He was lucky that unlike Bobi Wine, nobody had instructions to block him for politicking at a musical concert. We are talking about singer Jose Chameleon who used the Nabugabo beach Boxing Day concert to act politically. And here is how it happened. It’s a big event that attracts many voters and politicians from Masaka. On this occasion, Masaka Mayor Godfrey Kayemba Afaayo was among those present. And as soon as Chameleon stepped on stage, Afaayo who was seated with his wife in the VIP section, abandoned his seat and rushed to dance with him. Chameleon declined and proudly pushed him away saying “Mayor I’m here to entertain my people and not for politics.” Kayemba tried to insist hoping Chameleon would soften and allow him dance near him which never happened. “I spoke in Luganda and I was very clear I said I’m here to entertain my people and not for politics,” Chameleon roared prompting a clearly humiliated Afaayo to descend back to the crowd. A very embarrassed Afaayo signaled his wife and they left the show amidst boos and heckles from the crown comprising of mostly voters from Nyendo. Chameleon carried on singing and shocked many when he eventually called Mukasa Mbidde, who like Afaayo wants Masaka MP Seat, to come and dance with him. He praised Mbidde for being a good friend and urged voters to consider him very seriously in 2021. It was this conduct that shocked some wondering why he treated Afaayo so rudely he even declined his handshake.
