IS FDC YOUTH LEAGUE BOSS IDI OUMA EXIT IMMINENT?

There is anxiety among his supporters that the FDC national youth league chairman Idi Ouma’s days may after all be numbered. This comes after a group of FDC youth leaders and members, patronized by Robert Mayanja who is one of the colleagues he defeated in 2015, renewed calls on Idi Ouma to be impeached. The anti-Ouma sentiments have been exhibited on a number of whatsapp forums and other networking sites where Ouma is accused of a number of things including being a fanatic follower of outgoing Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza who stands accused of maliciously undermining current FDC party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA)’s authority. Kiiza, who eventually agreed to let go of the LoP office after raising a lot of dust, had also initially been accused of inciting other FDC MPs to treat POA with contempt because after all their candidate was Gen Mugisha Muntu. A diehard Muntu supporter, Idi Ouma was also perceived as someone who greatly benefited from Kiiza’s LoP tenure through his proxies that held lucrative salaried positions in the LoP office under Winnie Kiiza. These include a one Mesach in charge of budgeting, Salim Katumba the FDC youth chairman Kawempe Division and Apollo Sandy the former Muntu PA. The other more complex cause of problems for Idi Ouma was his controversial decision to back and actively campaign for JEEMA President Asuman Basalirwa in the just concluded Bugiri Municipality by-elections against FDC’s Eunice Namatende. This, apparently, is the biggest ground those wanting him out are fronting as strong enough to have him impeached. Idi has also always been very controversial in top management committee meetings ever antagonizing members that are renowned to be anti-Muntu in that party cabinet/management committee that in total has 14 members. But even earlier on in 2015 during the FDC national youth league elections at Jokaz hotel Namboole, Idi Ouma came up with a lineup of leaders who trounced some of the guys currently wielding a lot of influence at FDC headquarters. He backed Joan Alobo who defeated Grolia Paga to become the YL General Secretary. Paga today is a powerful official at party headquarters where she serves as a salaried PA to the powerful SG Nandala Mafabi. His other candidate was Zelda Kakayi who defeated Fred Mutibwa from Kamuli to become the YL Vice Chairperson for Eastern region.

Mutibwa now powerfully serves at party headquarters as a desk officer in charge of eastern Uganda. Idi Ouma, who has sometimes uttered uncharitable stuff about KB, is also not on good terms with Ayub Kigongo who is the PA to POA and Augustine Ojobira, an influential official in the FDC EC department. He has also never adequately reached out to Nakawa’s Robert Mayanja, a man he acrimoniously defeated in 2015 even when he was backed by powerful people in the party. Besides Mayanja, the other influential FDC actors Idi Ouma humiliatingly defeated in 2015 include Ingrid Turinawe protégé Brian Atuhaire and Innocent Ayo among others. He hasn’t been active in reaching out to reconcile with them hence his current predicament. To impeach him all that must happen is for the aggrieved to requisition for the YL Delegates Conference during which reasons have to be given justifying the impeachment proceedings. It’s not very easy but it can happen this being Uganda. For comments, call, text or whatsapp us on 0703164755.
