In an open letter circulated on social media, Aiden Kaliisa (@AidenKaliisa) urged David Musiri, the youth leader who DF sponsored for Makindye West MP Seat in 2026, to consider rejoining NUP from which he decamped after being denied party ticket which was given to Zahara Luyulika.
Musiri felt this was unfair because he had been assured to be the one in 2026, after he bowed out in favour of Allan Sewanyana in 2021. He also felt thrown under the bus given that Zahara Luyulika had all along been campaigning for the position of Kampala woman MP against Shamim Malende.
Musiri, who accused Rubongoya and Kyagulanyi of betrayal and ungratefulness, protested all this by joining DF on whose ticket he ran only to end up badly.
In his open letter, Aiden Kaliisa begs Musiri to forgive and return to Kavule and the NUP leadership to also bend a knee and reach out to get back their founding youth leader.
Musiri, who naturally belongs to NUP and not Mpuuga’s DF which many say won’t help his political career enough, has reacted by posting and widely circulating Aiden Kaliisa’s message.
He attached the following words of hope, clearly implying that a return to NUP is something he could be open to considering. “Letter received comrade, it’s an honor to have you as a brother in this struggle. Aluta continue,” said Musiri who must be regretting his move given the fact that the DF he joined performed so badly in the elections even when they had a better-resourced campaign and plenty of media good will rendered at both CBS radio and BBS TV of Buganda Kingdom.
