This Tuesday morning, veteran scribe Andrew Mwenda came closest to being assaulted by his archrival Tamale Mirundi who has always been talking bitter about him. The venue was Kamwokya-based Media Plaza which houses NBS TV. Mirundi arrived at a time Mwenda was about to finish his Morning Breeze interview where he was hosted by Simon Kaggwa Njala.
As if unaware his nemesis was in the house, Mirundi (who was arriving for his Tuesday One on One show) attempted to walk straight into the studios where a disaster of sorts would perhaps have happened. Anticipating the worst, one of the NBS staffers intercepted Mirundi and led him in the opposite direction to enable Mwenda exit safely.
As he was being kept at the balcony to avoid him coming face to face to an exiting Mwenda, Mirundi kept loudly grumbling (as you can imagine) shouting “let me finish him today; you people I have always told you and now is your chance to witness a murder of the century.”
In the end, Mwenda safely exited leaving behind a fire-spitting Tamale Mirundi. The man from Kalisizo seemed to blame his hosts NBS more than Mwenda himself. He was overheard furiously ranting: “You people you sometimes amuse me in the way you arrange your programs. Why would you put these two shows so next to each other moreover on the day you know very well Mirundi will be coming for his show?” In his Tuesday Morning Breeze appearance, Mwenda discussed many things including the new found political relationship between Besigye and Bobi Wine whom he dismissed as politically very naïve.
The context to all this is that Mirundi has always accused Mwenda for working with a one Omukoto to frustrate his employment at State House where for a long time he served as the Press Secretary to the President. He says Mwenda (he calls him Walutwe ntwe ya ppusi) was behind the concocting of audio recordings that portrayed him as abusing the President in his numerous radio talk shows. Mirundi also equally rants against Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso and Afande Edith Nakalema saying the two were there cheering as Mwenda made his case against him before the President. And (without adducing any proof) Mirundi always claims to have tried to beat up Mwenda only to be restrained by people present in the State House interrogation room where the President was in attendance.
