Mbale Woman Connie Galiwango Nakayenze was among the NRM legislators who rejected President Museveni’s continued rule by voting for Togikwatako in December 2017. She has since paid heavily to the extent that when an opportunity recently came to travel to Kyankwanzi and mend fences with the magnanimous veteran leader from Rwakitura, she couldn’t miss out. Married to Dr. Hassan Galiwango (the NRM Secretariat head of Finance & Administration), Connie was just among the many Togikwatako NRM MPs who saw the just-ended Kyankwanzi retreat as a God-sent opportunity to have some audience with the H.E. The others included Kabarole’s Alex Ruhunda and Sylvia Rwabwogo and as well as Bududa Woman MP Justine Khainza. The Togikwatako group had a lot of proving to do to manifest their renewed loyalty to the powerful man from Rwakitura. For instance, convinced that Museveni had moles everywhere to establish how genuinely remorseful the Togikwatako squad members were, Khainza carried/kept only yellow attire including underwears she kept prominently displaying on her bed to ensure the moles in her dormitory don’t mistaken her to be one with lukewarm commitment to NRM.

This didn’t prevent diehard Musevenists from regularly taunting her inside the dormitory every evening. One female legislator told her that “the populism you guys exhibited in the Togikwatako season created a lot of pressure for us as our voters became incited & you can’t easily be forgiven for the political embarrassment you caused to Mzee.” Connie Galiwango suffered much more. Quite often every evening after the day’s sessions, she would return to her dormitory and find her bed taken prompting bullies among Museveni diehards to ask her to sleep on the floor. “You are a prodigal son here meaning you should be prepared to suffer because you caused us much more agony because of the populism you adopted during Togikwatako,” one MP dormitory-mate repeatedly taunted the very humble Mbale Woman MP prompting her to repeatedly breakdown crying in the dormitory. After struggling to find where to sleep twice, Connie Galiwango resolved it was time to unceremoniously disappear from Kyankwanzi and that exactly is what she did. Why? The molestation was simply becoming too much for her to bear. For comments, call, text or whatsapp us on 0703164755.
