FDC’s Prof Nsibambi Praises Nabbanja for Being a Great Leader Serving in a Wrong Government as NRM Takes Over the Post-Zambali Barometer Programme on NBS

On Tuesday night, the NBS Barometer programme went on without Blasio Zambali Mukasa proving that life can go on even without a moderator many thought was indispensable.

Zambali is out of the job after he went out full throttle and joined the opposition NUP by campaigning for its candidate Erias Nalukoola in Kawempe by-election campaigns. He has since been ably replaced by Adam Kungu who is equally doing a good job if not better.

And to his credit, on this Tuesday occasion, Kungu did such a good job whereby he listened and allowed his panelists time to develop their thoughts. You no longer had their Betty Nambooze who always behaved and belligerently debated as if he owns NBS TV.

Her chauvinistic tendencies had always been tolerated and enabled by Zambali Blasio Mukasa who now hopes to ride on her back to land the NUP ticket for Nansana Municipality. This Tuesday, Nambooze (who would struggle to explain herself if asked to explain what she has done for the oppressed in the opposition in the last 4 years apart from appearing on NBS TV every Tuesday night) was nowhere to be seen in the Barometer studios as was Charles Rwomushana.

Leveraging on the conducive environment that Adam Kungu provided, NRM’s David Kabanda and Nabbanja had a field day clearly flooring both Yusuf Nsibambi and Ronald Balimwezo of Nakawa. Nabbanja referred to several times these two opposition MPs had reached out to her seeking personal and favors in their constituencies.

That Balimwezo onetime called on her to visit Nakawa market where she invested personal money to boost the small businesses of ladies operating there doing informal sector jobs. That Nsibambi one time went to her office asking for help after some farmers in Mawokota suffered hailstorms.

The same Nsibambi went to her office and successfully lobbied for two brand new tractors which she sent to Mawokota to support farming activities only for the same to be hijacked by Mpigi LC5 Chairman who is of NUP. Nabbanja said this shows she is patriotic and renders support to every MP regardless of party affiliation.

However, she faulted the elected leaders from the opposition for letting down the people of Kawempe for the last 25 years by not bringing their electors’ service delivery-related problems to the attention of the government especially the OPM which she leads and which is charged with coordination of government programmes. She suggested Kawempe voters prioritize Faridah Nambi because she is the only one who will be an effective conduit between them and the government.

When called upon to respond to things Nabbanja had said about him, Nsibambi (who Kabanda said has become too rich to ever desire Museveni’s exit) said he was constrained to criticize and contradict Nabbanja on national TV because she is personally a very good person who has brought energy and vibrancy to the OPM. He praised her for being hands-on, a mover and performer of unrivalled capability. “The only problem is that she is serving in a government which is slow paced just like the Kinawoloovu,” Nsibambi asserted.
