The recent DP re-union duped DP Bloc has been described as an inconsequential and a none strategic Alliance. According to Godber Tumushabe a policy analyst in the country, the Alliance was only a re-energizer to the 65-year-old Democratic party but no strategy to effect anything in regard to capture power. He however said that the DP Bloc is very important on the political scene since it has brought the individuals who had deserted the party to walk on their own but remains inconsequential at the political scene. “It is totally inconsequential because it has no Alliance strategy in place apart from having received it’s deserters who left to register own party and have decided to come back after failing to mobilize for their own,” said Tumushabe. He added that the DP Bloc should not do a mistake of calling their thing an Alliance because the Mao-led DP has not allied with any party but received back it’s prodigal members who walked and fail to reach the end of the world and decided to go back home to settle. Appearing on the NBS television this Wednesday morning, Tumushabe who featured together with Mwambutsya Ndebesa a Historian from Makerere University, said that Bwanika and Mabike who returned to DP should not deceive any one that they have led political parties because their parties had no structure members. He emphasized that: “If you are a national leader of a political party that can’t mobilize and get one million votes in a national election what kind of a party is that? I want people to distinguish registration and existence of political parties.” said Tumushabe adding SDP, PDP and TJ that signed an MoU with DP didn’t exist with structures or Members but registered individual organizations that will cause no impact for DP. He urged that any actor who is serious to form an Alliance to involve the Workers’ Alliance, Doctors, Students, Teachers, Farmers Union and other relevant Alliances and Unions because those would make a sense other than hoodwinking people with individuals who register parties without functionalizing them. “It makes no sense to make an Alliance with a party that has no members and structures,” he noted. He disclosed that he witnessed that there is a number of registered political parties where someone is a President, Chairman and Secretary at the same time during the time he was engaged in TDA formation. Mwambutsya Ndebesa noted that political Alliances without other citizens and active unions have got a poor record track of self-destruction. He said that a few of the successful Alliances are those that had fully participation of the citizens like UNC and KY, UFA, Popular Resistance Army that Formed the NRA rebels in the bush who had citizens’ support in the background. He said that political Alliance without a strategic Alliance and common value is wastage of time. He urged that the Alliances should participate in launching different fronts and slogans that empowers citizens’ participation if they are to achieve their aim but will never achieve by uniting to discuss individuals. The advice from the experts comes in at a time when the Principals of DP Bloc are perceived to have shifted their weapons from President Museveni to Dr. Kizza Besigye. When the DP Bloc gathered at Hotel Africana to sign the MoU, Bwanika who has been the leader of PDP said castigated Dr. Besigye and his FDC for being perennial presidential candidate which he said he is ready to fight until he (Besigye) bows to the pressure and join the Alliance. “There is one who has decided to be a perennial candidate but this time whether I remain alone he will not get space as long as I’m still breathing,” said Bwanika.
