Joseph Mukasa Sewava, an influential youth leader in NRM, has warned Bobi Wine to drop his presidential ambitions or else risk political consequences for which he will regret the rest of his life. In an address to the media, Sewava said that Bobi Wine used to be his friend and he clandestinely worked with other state operatives during the 2017 Kyadondo East bye-election to ensure that he got the votes and was declared MP. “We convinced Mzee not to be very hostile to Bobi Wine because we believed he would help in the mobilization of the young people in the ghettos towards development and wealth creation,” Sewava said. “We went as far as taking him to Mzee and the two had a discussion. That was during the campaign and things were not good for him because the truth is Bobi Wine was broke. Mzee liked his proposal on how to support those young people in the ghettos but the only problem was the amount of money he asked for. He demanded for Shs10bn which Mzee said was too much money to be given to one person. Mzee’s idea was that he had no problem releasing Shs10bn for the purposes of the ghetto but he wanted Bobi Wine to work with other musicians. This is something Bobi refused and the talks between the two collapsed.” Sewava says as fellow young people they continued engaging Bobi Wine and kept the President informed. “We believed he would be the alternative candidate for the NRM in that race since it was clear our own Sitenda wasn’t doing very well,” Sewava says adding that the ex-IGP Kale Kayihura was thickly involved in their behind the scenes engagements with candidate Bobi. “He [IGP] had some rapport with Bobi Wine because they had worked together on a project against drug abuse in the ghettos…With all that background we expected he would work with us when he became MP but to our shock Bobi has resorted to using his new fame to measure himself to the President.”
GENERALS FEAR

Sewava says Bobi Wine should know that Museveni he is measuring himself on is a full General who is never remorseful when it comes to crushing political foes. “He must know that Museveni naturally is very magnanimous but there is a limit beyond which he cannot tolerate political familiarity. This is the reason even Generals fear him because they know the consequences of crossing his red line. My brother Bobi Wine is still young and has a young family but the path he has taken will lead him nowhere but to destruction,” Sewava warned. “He will soon find himself alone because we have it on good authority through our 5th columnists in his camp. He is increasingly becoming surrounded because even his own wife Barbie doesn’t believe in his premature presidential ambitions. Herself is eying Wakiso woman MP and his insistence to challenge the President is going to produce many losers in his family. Let him ask Besigye if he isn’t sure of the consequences of contesting for presidency.” Sewava says they have been facilitated with Shs10bn to go on a counter offensive which he says will politically leave Bobi a very crippled man. “We have enough resources now to woo over all the young people he has been confusing in the ghettos. He will very soon find himself very unpopular to the extent of even struggling to get elected as a Councilor to work at City Hall. It’s now even too late for him to even get re-elected as MP unless he joins NRM and goes to contest in his village in Gomba on the NRM ticket,” Sewava ranted on. Sewava, who made these revelations days before Museveni hosted youth leaders in State House from Kampala divisions and gave them Shs2.5bn, revealed that their activities would begin in the last week of March and will involve a range of actions including staging anti-Bobi demonstrations in Kampala and other major cities of Uganda. A former Sejusa PA, flamboyant Sewava is a long time NRM mobilizer who has prominently participated in many political campaigns including the Museveni-funded battle that resulted into the political annihilation of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi. At some point in his political career, Sewava passed off as an assistant to first son Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Infact, as he was being squeezed by hard exile life in UK in 2013-2014, Sejusa wrote a missive in which he claimed that the highly connected Sewava had been planted to spy on him by the President and his son.
