Equity Bank Uganda has rolled out a major upgrade to its digital banking services with the launch of Equity Online for Business, a platform aimed at reshaping how enterprises manage their finances in an increasingly fast-paced and digital economy.
The new system, unveiled on Wednesday at Protea Hotel Kampala, replaces the bank’s previous EazzyBiz platform and introduces a suite of enhanced features designed to improve speed, security, and operational efficiency for businesses of all sizes.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Director Equity Bank Claver Serumaga said the platform was built in response to shifting market demands and the need for seamless financial management tools. He noted that businesses today require immediacy, reliability, and integrated solutions to remain competitive.
“Commerce is evolving rapidly, with customers expecting immediacy, reliability and seamless integration. Equity Online for Business responds to these needs by consolidating all essential financial tools into one platform,” Serumaga said, adding that the system enables companies to manage accounts, supplier payments, payroll, recurring bills, foreign transactions, and reconciliations more efficiently.
Effective April 8, 2026, all of the bank’s business customers are expected to transition to the new platform in order to continue accessing digital banking services. While retaining the core capabilities of EazzyBiz, the upgraded system introduces a more modern interface and expanded functionality aimed at simplifying financial operations.
Among its standout features is enhanced accessibility, allowing users to connect via web browsers, a mobile application, host-to-host integrations, or enterprise resource planning APIs. This flexibility ensures that businesses can manage their finances anytime and from multiple channels.
The platform also delivers improved performance and reliability, addressing common challenges such as system downtime and slow processing speeds that can disrupt daily operations. In addition, it introduces advanced governance tools that allow corporate administrators to independently control user access, strengthening internal oversight.
Serumaga emphasized that the platform goes beyond traditional online banking. “Equity Online for Business is more than an online banking portal, it is a comprehensive financial management tool designed to eliminate inefficiencies and give businesses the confidence to make real-time decisions,” he said.
A key focus of the new system is cashflow management, with real-time visibility across accounts and business units. This capability is expected to help companies optimize working capital and make faster, data-driven financial decisions. Businesses will also benefit from multi-currency support and automated sweep transfers, which enhance liquidity management.
Further features include real-time analytics, automated reconciliations, and customizable dashboards, all aimed at reducing accounting workloads and improving financial transparency. The system also incorporates detailed audit trails to help organizations track transactions and minimize cash leakages.
Security has been prioritized in the platform’s design, with multiple layers of protection such as One-Time Password verification via email or SMS, token-based authentication, and structured user authorization workflows. These measures are intended to safeguard transactions and protect sensitive financial data.
The platform also supports instant inter-country transfers, real-time foreign exchange updates, and integrated statutory and bill payments, positioning it as a critical tool for businesses operating in regional and international markets.
Equity Bank Uganda says it will provide ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition, with dedicated relationship teams offering onboarding, training, and integration assistance. The lender is also encouraging both existing and prospective customers to explore the platform’s capabilities as part of its broader push toward a cash-lite, digitally driven business environment.
With the launch of Equity Online for Business, the bank is signaling a strong commitment to innovation and to supporting enterprises navigating an increasingly digital financial landscape.
