A few days ago, Kimanya-Kabonera MP Abed Bwanika rang Nakawa East’s Ronald Balimwezo. He had just heard rumors that Bobi Wine was fronting his barking dog Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro to run for the Nakawa East MP Seat come 2026.
He wanted confirmation if this was something Balimwezo had heard about. He assured him it was true Mufumbiro had been annointed to come for his Seat onstensibly for the good of the party.
Bwanika says that he was disappointed to realize that Balimwezo was subdued and too terrified to fight back. The Kimanya MP says that Balimwezo told him he had been convinced that leaving the Nakawa Seat for Mufumbiro (to go for Lord Mayorship) was the best way to placate the broader political interests of NUP as a party in Kampala and beyond.
“I told him how can you be duped so easily like that? I reminded him that ‘you have only done four years and you are still very popular among your voters.’ Why do you allow to be sacrificed for Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro who is supposed to go and stand in Busoga which is yet to be liberated?”
Bwanika says he was shocked that Balimwezo was so fearful of the abusive NUP foot soldiers to the extent that he wasn’t prepared to put up any fight to defend his MP Seat come 2026.
