On 15th February 2006, Lt Ramadhan Magara had a violent confrontation with supporters of Col Kizza Besigye as the FDC Presidential Candidate went to visit Katikkiro Dan Muliika at Bulange Mengo. As they waited for Besigye outside Bulange, his supporters attacked Magara (a volunteer at then Rubaga RDC Fred Bamwine’s office) who insisted on driving through the very thick crowd that had blocked roads around Bulange. Saying it was very provocative for him to drive through them with a vehicle pasted with President Museveni campaign posters, the crowd pelted Magara with stones and smashed his windscreen. This forced him to come out of his vehicle and shoot at random. In the process, two Besigye supporters (Vincent Kavuma & Gideon Makabayi) were killed on spot. The 3rd one, badly injured, was Haruna Byamukama who remains confined in a wheelchair in his Kyenjojo village where Besigye looks after him through Lord Councilor Doreen Nganjura of KCCA. Magara was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced for 14 year jail term which he completed recently and is now a free man. On his release Magara, who still mantains he isn’t the one who shot the killer bullets, started on the path to rebuild his life. Even when he is now 68 years, Magara says he is still energetic enough and a reformed man whose talent government should exploit by hiring him to serve as a security instructor for either UPDF or Uganda Police Force. Magara, who started on the post-jail rehabilitation by remarrying his wife Hadija Nakintu (wedding is today Saturday 30th March 2019), says the Museveni government should remember and help him out of his current joblessness.
