Earlier today, January 9, 2025, Airtel Uganda’s Managing Director, Mr. Soumendra Sahu, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Hon. George William Nyombi Thembo, in a meeting that reaffirmed Airtel’s commitment to expanding internet connectivity across Uganda.
The engagement, held at the UCC headquarters in Kampala, focused on the shared vision of both entities in ensuring affordable, high-quality internet services reach every corner of the country.
With Uganda rapidly embracing digital transformation, discussions centered on collaborative efforts to enhance broadband penetration, improve network infrastructure, and bridge the digital divide, especially in rural and underserved communities.
The meeting underscored the critical role of telecom operators in advancing Uganda’s digital agenda.
Expanding internet access remains a national priority, and partnerships between industry leaders and regulatory authorities are instrumental in achieving this goal. By strengthening these collaborations, Uganda moves closer to ensuring that all citizens, regardless of location, have access to reliable and affordable connectivity.
Airtel Uganda, known for its extensive 4G network coverage across the country, has been at the forefront of digital empowerment through various initiatives, including affordable data bundles, digital literacy programs, and strategic collaborations with key stakeholders in the ICT sector.
This latest engagement with UCC signals yet another step in strengthening the partnership between regulators and telecom operators in shaping Uganda’s digital future.
