Today, at Bulange Mengo, Airtel Uganda officially launched the 12th Kabaka Birthday Run, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS, and celebrating the legacy of Kabaka at 70. The event promises exciting developments and impactful efforts that will make a difference in the community, and more details will be shared soon.
Remmie Kisakye, the Managing Director of Majestic Brands, took the stage at the launch, expressing her gratitude for Airtel’s continued partnership with Buganda Kingdom in the fight against HIV/AIDS. She emphasized, “Your trust in our capability has led to a positive societal impact, and together, we are making significant strides.” The collaboration between Airtel and Buganda Kingdom is instrumental in driving these efforts forward.
On behalf of Soumendra Sahu, Airtel Uganda’s Managing Director, Flavia Ntambi Lwanga, the company’s HR Director, highlighted the importance of renewed commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS and the improvement of community livelihoods. She noted, “While we’ve seen a decline in HIV/AIDS cases, challenges remain, especially with rising prevalence among youth and women in certain areas. We must unite to support these vulnerable communities.”
Flavia also unveiled the official kit for the 2025 Kabaka Birthday Run, priced at 20,000 shillings, which can be purchased via 1855*5# or directly at the event. The kit is part of Airtel’s efforts to mobilize the public and ensure maximum participation in this noble cause.
Oweek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga, Minister for Youth, Sports, and Arts – Buganda, addressed the crowd, reassuring participants that the run will meet international standards, ensuring a professional and enjoyable experience for all.
