Kimanya-Kabonera MP Abed Bwanika has vowed to create adequate time and fully camp in Kampala purposely to ensure NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya fails in his bid to become the MP Kampala Central.
Bwanika says it’s bad strategy for the opposition, which captured and liberated Kampala long time ago, to spoon feed Rubongoya by fielding him in the Capital City when his Ankole backyard remains unliberated.
He says in Ankole, NUP doesn’t have even a single Councilor which is why it’s where Rubongoya should go and lead the liberation front from instead of wasting time on Kampala which was liberated and captured by opposition forces long time ago.
Bwanika urged all Baganda who vote in Kampala Central to be very deliberate and vote in a way that will leave Rubongoya permanently deflated. He said its abominable to front Rubongoya for such an important political seat as if there are no credible opposition politicians born from within Buganda.
Saying he has already secured reelection as Kimanya-Kabonera MP for the 2026-2031 period, Bwanika said he will be having more than enough time to camp in Kampala to ensure that what he called “Kyagulanyi’s imposed GMO candidates” are identified and decisively annihilated in 2026.
He listed other Kyagulangi imposed candidates to include Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro being fronted for Nakawa East, Nubian Li for Nakawa Mayorship and Benjamin Katana who he said was being fronted for Entebbe Municipality. He said he has been a Kampala resident in Nakawa Division for more than 30 years, which gives him higher stake there than even Kyagulanyi himself.
Abed Bwanika, who created extreme confusion amongst listerners of CBS radio where he was speaking from more so when he asserted he proudly belongs to Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Alliance and yet remains a NUP member at the same time, said there is no way such ‘political aliens’ ( as he called them) can qualify according to Kabaka’s end of year message in which the King unequivocally commanded his subjects to only vote for people who respect Buganda’s royal throne.
Acting under that command by the Kabaka, Abed Bwanika (who vigorously disputed claims by fellow studio guest Busujju MP Kalwanga that the nickname Mubanda wa Kabaka shows that Kyagulanyi loves and respects the Buganda throne) made it clear that it’s his duty to fight hard to ensure that Rubongoya, Katana, Nubian Li and Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro don’t suceed becoming MPs to represents areas that fall under Buganda Kingdom.
He demanded to know why Mufumbiro doesn’t stand in his birthplace of Busoga where NUP has only one MP (Manjeri Kyebakutika), Nubian in Arua where NUP doesn’t have even a single Councilor and Katana in Ankole where NUP doesn’t have a single elected leader.
