KCB Bank Uganda marked the graduation of the 2026 cohort of its Emerging Leaders Development Program, completing a three-year, three-tiered leadership investment that has now reached every management level of the bank, from the Country Management Team to first-line supervisors.

The ceremony brought together 120 high-potential and first-line leaders who completed the program’s core modules in June 2026 and were formally recognised today for finishing the full course of study. Their graduation marked the completion of a structured rollout under the KCB Group-wide leadership initiative, designed to strengthen leadership capability, sharpen people management skills, build high-performing teams, and drive sustainable business performance across the organisation.

The initiative unfolded in three distinct phases. All members of the Country Management Team completed the Senior Leadership Development Program in September 2025, setting the tone for the tiers that followed. 70 middle management leaders then completed the NextGen Leadership Development Program in March 2026. The Emerging Leaders Development Program, which concluded today, extended the same investment to first-line and high-potential leaders, bringing structured leadership development to every tier of the bank’s management structure.

Participants in the Emerging Leaders cohort followed a blended learning model that paired in-person classroom sessions with three months of self-paced e-learning and practical Action Learning Projects addressing real operational challenges within the bank. The curriculum centred on self-leadership, emotional intelligence, conflict management, goal setting, prioritisation, and the skills required to lead high-performing teams.

Edgar Byamah, Managing Director, KCB Bank Uganda, challenged the graduates to step decisively into their roles as transformational leaders. Commending their dedication throughout the program, Byamah urged the new cohort to convert their training into immediate operational impact:

“Thank you for the resilience you showed to get here, for the early mornings, the assignments completed, and the commitment you brought to every session. That effort tells me you are ready. As a leader, your fundamental responsibility is to provide clear direction and absolute clarity, ensuring everyone you lead knows their mandate and is aligned with our vision. So go and lead. Take on the hard conversations, own the tough decisions, and build the kind of teams that others want to be part of. That is what this program was for.”

Highlighting the strategic value of the initiative, Sempa Laura, Learning Development and Talent Manager at KCB Bank Uganda, noted: “Part of what we do in this space is to develop talent within the business that will support overall business performance and people growth. From this program, we are looking to see improved leadership across the organization, enhanced business efficiency, and elevated customer service. Having trained over half our population across all three tiers, we are confident the impact will be great and will continue moving the brand forward for people, for better.”

The programme is a direct investment in human capital, with graduates expected to apply what they learned to measurable improvements in customer experience, internal workflow efficiency, and overall business growth. The bank confirmed that graduates will continue to receive structured support following the ceremony, including mentorship, stretch assignments, and ongoing measurement of the programme’s impact on their teams and business units.

With all three tiers of leadership development now complete, the milestone reflects KCB Bank Uganda’s broader commitment to building leadership capacity at every level of the organisation in support of long-term, sustainable performance.
