The IGG charged Echenyu William, a former Intelligence Officer at Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) on three counts of forgery and uttering false documents. Her Workship Kamasanyu Gladys of Buganda road Chief Magistrate’s Court, while making her judgment convicted Echenyu William on all counts and was accordingly sentenced to two years imprisonment on each count-to run concurrently. The charges emanated from an investigation which the IGG was conducting at UWA. While the investigations were on-going, Echenyu forged a letter purportedly written by the Inspector General of Government (IGG ) ordering UWA to reinstate and promote him, pay his school fees and also pay him all the retained salaries. Suspecting the terms of the order to be fraudulent, the Executive Director of UWA immediately contacted the IGG who ascertained and concluded that she never issued such directives. Mr. Echenyu had been on remand since 5th October, 2017 when he took plea following his unsuccessful bail application.
