In a dramatic twist that has left many stunned, the Church of Uganda has triumphantly reclaimed its contested land after a powerful intervention by the Inspectorate of Government (IG)!
The land, located along the busy Port Bell Road and known as Plot 107, Old Port Bell Road, had been at the center of explosive fraud allegations. For months, whispers of foul play surrounded the property but now, the truth has burst into the open!
It all began when a complaint reached the IG, claiming that shady dealings had led to the illegal transfer of church land. Investigators quickly swung into action, digging deep into the records. What they uncovered was shocking: officials in the Land Registration Department had allegedly issued a fraudulent special certificate of title.
Even more astonishing, the land was transferred to businessman Meddie Mayega Nyago—despite the original title safely resting with the Church’s Registered Trustees!
In a bold and decisive move, the Inspector General of Government ordered the immediate cancellation of the fake title. The controversial document linked to FVR Folio 3 and issued on 28th October 2022—was wiped out, sending a strong warning to anyone involved in corrupt land dealings.
And now, the final victory: a search report dated 9th March 2026 has confirmed that the Church of Uganda is once again the rightful owner on the National Land Information System (NLIS). Justice, it seems, has finally prevailed!
This high-stakes case has shown a bright spotlight on corruption risks in land management—but it has also highlighted the IG’s fierce determination to protect public trust. According to the statement released on March 25, 2026 from IG, the crackdown proves that no one is above the law.
As the dust settles, many are asking: how many more hidden land scandals are waiting to be uncovered?
For now, the Church celebrates a hard-fought victory—and a powerful message echoes across the nation: fraud will not go unchallenged! (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
