In a bold move to tackle Uganda’s water challenges head-on, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), has issued a shocking directive: Leave your offices and go into the field!
Mugisha, who’s known for his hands-on approach, made it clear that no one in the organization should stay behind a desk while customers suffer water service issues. Speaking at the launch of his nationwide operational tour, he emphasized that improving service requires direct engagement with customers and resolving problems on the ground.
Since early February, Mugisha has been on the move, visiting towns across the country; Mbale, Tororo, Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli, and Lugazi meeting with both customers and staff, inspecting water service standards, and reviewing ongoing projects.
But it’s not just about fixing water pipes. Mugisha stressed that customer care is central to this initiative. He explained that the goal is to listen to the people they serve and find immediate, practical solutions to the problems. The tour has also focused on staff welfare, with the NWSC boss highlighting that a motivated and engaged workforce is essential for delivering quality service.
Mugisha’s message is loud and clear: no more sitting in offices while the water crisis grows. He is on a mission to put customers first and fix the service gaps, one town at a time!
