On 15th December, the NWSC MD Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha joined Ministry of Water senior officials like MWE Permanent Secretary Dr. Alfred Okidi, Dr. Callist Tindimugaya and Eng Gilbert Kimanzi etc to abreast Ugandans about the latest accomplishments of the country’s water and sewerage sector.
Indeed, Dr. Mugisha made use of the prime platform that was availed under the NBS “SpotlightUG” series to create awareness among millions of Ugandans regarding the Corporation’s mandate and the governance structure. He also explained the relationship with the MWE, which exercises policy guidance and some supervisory mandate on the Corporation.
The MD also sensitized the public about the objectives behind initiatives like “water for all” and what the same practically means for the quality of life of the ordinary individual water consumer.
He also publicized to the country the major water infrastructural development projects which are ongoing and the ways in which each one of them has or will impact the quality of life for the ordinary Ugandan. He also spoke about NWSC’s coverage-related achievements.
Dr. Mugisha also spoke about the Bugolobi water treatment plant and the Kiruddu sewerage compacting treatment plant into which the Corporation invested as a matter of priority and thereby bringing to an end all the sanitation-related problems which Kiruddu hospital used to be synonymous with.
Besides being able to effectively communicate key service delivery-related messages to Ugandans, Dr. Mugisha and the Corporation was also able to get a lot of feedback from Ugandans in real time regarding the water service-related aspects which Ugandans would like to see improved.
Much of the feedback majorly came through the social media platforms of both NBS, which organized the media engagement, and those of NWSC itself. Gratefully, the Corporation’s PR team were at hand to promptly respond to much of the feedback that kept coming through.
