Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has refuted claims that his campaign is being sponsored by the ruling NRM government, insisting his focus is on empowering Ugandans, particularly local farmers.
Speaking during his campaign in Kapelebyong District, Mafabi pledged to ban the importation of juice if elected, citing the potential of Uganda’s fruit production sector.
He highlighted the abundance of organic fruits such as mangoes and oranges in Teso and other sub-regions, stressing the importance of supporting local produce over imports.
Mafabi criticized the current government for neglecting local farmers despite Uganda being an agricultural country.
He promised to empower farmers to benefit from their labor and earn decent livelihoods, asserting that “poverty will be history” during his leadership and emphasizing his commitment to equity and quality in social services.
Outlining key points of his party’s manifesto, Mafabi highlighted infrastructure development through improved electricity for domestic and industrial use, better roads, and a revamped railway network.
He also pledged to ensure school-going children have food in schools and that health facilities are stocked with drugs, medical supplies, and equipment.
The FDC presidential candidate cited his experience as MP for Budadiri West and as an advisor to the World Bank as credentials to serve as Uganda’s next president, promising to place the interests of Ugandans at the center of his administration.
