Uganda Patriotic Movement is demanding a written explanation from Electoral Commission regarding the procedural and legal basis on which their duly endorsed Presidential flagbearer Dr.Keddi Eric Steven Zuluba was denied nomination on 24 of September at the designated nomination center at Lweza Lubowa.
According to the letter dated 3th October 2025 addressed to Electoral commission chairperson, UPM seeks reasons for the non- nomination of their candidate despite of fulfilling all requirements.
UPM demands the Commission to provide a written explanation clearly stating the legal and procedural grounds on which Dr Keddi was refused nomination despite full compliance.
The commission should further clarifies whether internal administrative delays or failure now constitutes lawful basis to deny nomination to a fully compliant candidate.
UPM further demands that Electoral commission outlines any corrective measures in it’s intends to take to address the injustice and restore public trust in it’s Independence, transparency and constitutional mandate under Article 61 of the Uganda Constitution.
UPM given Electoral Commission an ultimatum of 48 hours to offer the explanation or else UPM will seek appropriate redress in the High Court of Uganda as provided under Article 50 of the Constitution and the presidential Elections Act.
