His Blood Will be on Your Hands If Eddie Mutwe Dies in Prison, Prince Kassim Nakibinge Tells CJ Dollo

By Mulengera Reporters

On Thursday, Prince Kassim Nakibinge, the titular head of Muslims in Uganda (Jjaja w’obusiraamu mu Uganda) addressed a large group of Supreme Sheikhs and District Khadis who are loyal to his leadership at Kibuli hill, as opposed to Mubaje’s Old Kampala-based establishment.

He spoke to them about many things including the need for them to amplify his voice calling for an end to torture and growing cases of human rights violations in the country. Nakibinge made reference to Bobi Wine’s bodyguard Eddie Mutwe Sebuwufu and castigated the Masaka-based Magistrate who has continued remanding him back to prison even when it’s clear the once very vibrant and vibe-filled NUP bouncer is on the verge of losing his life.

During his latest appearance at the Masaka Court, Mutwe (who first went missing for days before the CDF Gen MK who is also Gen Museveni’s son owned up saying he was at his basement being made to salute the portrait of Gen Museveni besides learning Kiswahili) cried out to the Magistrate requesting to be authorized to access appropriate medication to be able to treat deep wounds he claims to have contracted during torture sessions at Gen MK’s basement. He said he was in so much pain, he didn’t mind resting so that he can go and meet his creator.

The images of a tearful Eddie Mutwe begging the GoU to cut off his hands to relieve the pain he was enduring as a result of the torture (his boss Bobi Wine says was inflicted on him at Gen MK’s basement) went viral all over the world and increased condemnation of the Kampala regime. The condemnation has been global and unrelenting prompting the defacto government spokesman Andrew Mwenda to blame the same on imperialism and colonial hang over.

On Thursday, Prince Nakibinge, renowned for being outspoken against the GoU excesses, added his voice and sent a strong unambiguous message to Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo. He castigated the Masaka judicial officer for remanding a clearly dying man (Mutwe) as opposed to directing the state to release and enable him access appropriate medical treatment.

Nakibinge, revered among millions of Muslims, called on Dollo to intervene and reprimand the indifferent Masaka judicial officer because as CJ, the man from Agago has supervisory powers over all judicial officers in the country. Short of intervening and speaking out very unequivocally, Prince Nakibinge warned that big man Dollo risked retiring with Eddie Mutwe’s blood on his hand (should the NUP bouncer die as a result of what the Muslim cleric called judiciary-enabled political persecution).

Officially Mutwe and other Bobi Wine security entourage members are being prosecuted for assault acts that were visited on Masaka area journalists sometime last year as they covered the burial of opposition stalwart Pascal Ssekasamba in Lwengo district outside Masaka City.

Yet some of the journalists have since developed cold feet on seeing the state leverage on their complaint to subject the Kyagulanyi bodyguards to excessive punishment way beyond what they originally desired to see. Some Kyagulanyi supporters claim that some of the journalists provoked their own beating in order to make Kyagulanyi look bad while serving the political interests of his arch nemesis Mathias Mpuuga.
