In a spirited show of unity, leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Buganda have pledged to continue spreading the party’s message and rally support for President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 2026 elections.

Gathered at Nabbunga playgrounds in Kalisizo Town Council, Kyotera District, the ministers, Members of Parliament, and local leaders vowed to ensure that the central region remains firmly behind the NRM.

The event, dubbed “Buganda for Museveni,” was graced by top party officials, including NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja and several ministers.

Namayanja called on the people of Buganda to embrace the NRM government and not be left behind by other regions in terms of development.

“It is through NRM MPs that services are lobbied from the government. So vote for President Museveni and the NRM members of parliament to follow up on government promises,” she urged.

She emphasized the need for leaders who deliver results, adding, “We no longer want Members of Parliament who are non-performers. We need MPs who can advocate for clean water, good roads, and better social services.”

The host of the event, State Minister for Microfinance Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, assured the people of continued service delivery, urging them to trust the NRM. He highlighted the government’s achievements in the region, including the construction of over 15 health centers, SEED schools, and economic empowerment programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model, which provide affordable credit to households.

Kasolo reminded the people that the NRM government understands their challenges and is committed to finding lasting solutions.

The event was attended by several high-profile leaders, including Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Education Minister John Chrysostom Muyingo, Water Minister Aisha Sekindi, Economic Planning Minister Amos Lugolobi, and Health Minister Hanifah Kawooya. Former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and several Members of Parliament were also present.

As the 2026 elections draw closer, the NRM leaders made it clear, that they are determined to take their message to every corner of Buganda, ensuring that the region remains a stronghold for President Museveni and the ruling party.

[A tree is known by its fruit], and the NRM believes its achievements speak for themselves, and now, they are asking the people of Buganda to trust them once again at the ballot box.
