BIG IS BIG: Teso Elders Task Mike Mukula to Reconcile & Unite All Warring Groups-They Don’t Want to Hear of Among vs. Alupo Camps Anymore-As That Would Be Betrayal To Museveni Who Has Given Them Fat Jobs

For years, MPs and other notables from Teso sub region have opportunistically portrayed themselves as loyal to either the Speaker Anita Among’s camp or that of Vice President Jessica Alupo. Ministers like Jeje Odongo, Musa Ecweru, Hellen Odoa and others were for some time perceived to be Alupo’s as the likes of Peter Ogwang were branded Anita Among’s.

At some point, the quarreling became so heightened to the extent that admins on the Teso MPs’ whatsapp groups had to remove some of the most belligerent members. These are members who had opted to become too belligerent towards VP Alupo; ostensibly to appease Speaker Among and increase their acceptability to her.

Fast foward as of today, sanity is beginning to prevail after leaders realising that some of these wars are imaginary and the handwork of poverty-stricken and fortune-hunting cadres who thrive on quarrel mongering and antagonising national leaders in order to get facilitated to fight back and defend those who give them something on social media.

It appears that the Teso leaders are learning from the example of their peers from Busoga who spent years fighting each other and in the end, their sub region lost big positions. For years, antagonism (alot of it unfounded) existed between Rebecca Kadaga and Minister Parsis Namuganza and between Kadaga and then NRM SG Kasule Lumumba.

In the end, Gen Museveni got disgusted and even himself got defeated by Bobi Wine of NUP party in 2021. Subsequently, the sub region lost the position of Speakership and that of Secretary General of NRM. In defeat, the Busoga belligerents reflected on their mistakes and reconciled but it was too late.

It seems, Teso sub region politicians (who Gen Museveni one time described as good mobilisers but very quarrelsome in a political speech at Kololo) have preferred to reflect and deescalate their potentially very damaging intrigue on good time as opposed to waiting for things to get too late.

Knowledgeable sources say that, having reflected on the bigger picture, they are determined to avoid the Busoga syndrome by letting each one of them eat a humble pie and engage their perceived adversaries on good time. Many of them have embraced the de-escalation and reconciliation talks being arbitrated by Papa Mike Mukula.

Sources say that Capt Mukula, who possesses Donald Trump-like deal making skills, has started with Katakwi which is home to two big protagonists namely Jessica Alupo the VP and the sports minister Peter Ogwang.

The two have been feuding for an eternity with several of Alupo’s political adversaries sheltering under Peter Ogwang who is also a key political ally of Speaker Anita Among. These include Cecilia Anyakoit and Violet Akurut Adome both of whom want to oust Jessica Alupo, the Katakwi Woman MP. On the other hand, Peter Ogwang rivals in Ngariam have equally claimed solidatity with Alupo and these include Augustine Otuko and Dam Mulalu.

Mukula’s plan is to enlarge these reconciliation efforts to other districts once the Katakwi pilot succeeds. The wisdom around all this is that a united NRM team will find no problem reciprocating General Museveni’s goodwill by delivering 100% success for all NRM candidates from Teso come 2026.

Even the few FDCs holding positions of MP and at local council levels are slated to be obliterated and replaced with conc NRMs and even Najjanankumbi party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) is headed for total humiliation as he seeks to regain his MP Seat in Kumi.

The wisdom inside the Mukula orbit is that FDC is now at its weakest in Teso, because of the POA vs. Katonga quarrels, and 2026 is the best time to strike and end opposition remnants in Teso sub region once and for all. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
