In His latest audio message, Kyaggwe influential politician Rev Peter Bakaluba Mukasa sheds light on what caused him to quit the ruling NRM party. Bakaluba, who famously fled NRM and joined opposition, says he is officially now a member of DP and actively allied to Bobi Wine’s People Power.
He says he has openly declared his defection this early so that in future he isn’t misunderstood or dismissed as an opportunist just defecting to get endorsed for any political position by People Power.
The eloquent man of God says he left NRM because there was too much brutality by President Museveni whom he refers to as the bus driver. In the same audio, Bakaluba says he realizes he was unwanted in NRM whose conductors and other guides he says are as brutal as Museveni the bus driver. He doesn’t go into details to explain this brutality but says he can’t go back to the ruling party no matter how much he gets intimidated and targeted for blackmail by NRM mobilizers and top leadership.
Bakaluba also repents his sins telling opposition activists to accept him with open hands and adds that he hates lukewarmness or being double-faced when he chooses to do something. “When I decide to do something I give it my all and it’s now my task to ensure I work well with other leaders like Betty Nambooze I have found in opposition to make sure we decisively uproot NRM 100% from the politics of Mukono. They aren’t going to win any elective position in Mukono and from 2021 onwards they are going to become the opposition party in Mukono politics,” Bakaluba says.
OFFERS PP FREE OFFICE BLOCK
In the same audio he announces an offer of one of his prime commercial buildings in the center of Mukono Municipality to permanently house the offices of the People Power Movement. He says this office is available for free and it will be the coordination center for all anti-Museveni/NRM political operations in the whole of Mukono district.
Bakaluba, who last week was unveiled to an opposition rally the DPs organized in Jinja, says he these days has direct connection to Mr. Wine and other top officials of People Power. But his unveiling in Jinja, where opposition DP leaders cheerfully welcomed him, has unsettled a group of opposition leaders led by Dr. Abed Bwanika who had already fronted a one Dereck Mutema Bikompo to be sole PP candidate for Mukono LC5 slot which is the same position stinking rich Bakaluba is already campaigning for.
It’s during that same Jinja meeting that Bwanika, who was already uncomfortable seeing singer Chameleon seek the endorsement of DP for Kampala Lord Mayorship, lost his cool and demanded to know his political share once the animal is killed in 2021.
