The race for Nakawa Division Urban Council Speaker is heating up, with National Unity Platform
(NUP) endorsing Rt. Hon. Nalubwama Jalia as their super candidate. Jalia, the incumbent Deputy Speaker, is touted as a strong contender, thanks to her proven track record and community support.
With 47 members in the Council, including 22 from the ruling NRM party and 17 from NUP, the competition is fierce. However, Jalia’s experience and reputation as a _”servant leader”_ have earned her a strong following. Her endorsement by NUP positions her as a frontrunner, and her ascension is seen as a win for women leaders in local government.
“Nakubwama’s skills and experience make her poised to unite the different camps in Council,” said a NUP official. “She’s a woman of action, and her community is rallying behind her.”
The outcome of this election is likely to have a significant impact on Nakawa Division’s development, with Jalia promising to make a positive difference.
