Speaking on Wednesday at Hotel Africana, the Freedom Party boss explained that they are going to be working together with ANT & other like-minded opposition formations to strengthen the opposition cause going into 2026 elections.
He also said they are aware of the obstacles lying ahead including disruptive propaganda by the regime propagandists and violence from pro-Museveni militias whose violence he said will be responded to in the same measure. He made it clear this is just the beginning as more efforts are being made to have deeper unity and shared platforms with other like-minded opposition groups & formations.
Lukwago said that Gen M7, who he described as a very paranoid old man, is going to become so much afraid of a united opposition he might even create imaginary insecurity in the country and use that as justification to postpone or call off the 2026 campaigning processes in order to constrain his opponents.
He added they anticipate lots of online/social media hostility from the NRM and other reactionary political groups but this is something they are emotionally well prepared for. The Besigye-Muntu group unity of purpose, which was always being disrupted by Nandala Mafabi & POA on purpose, is real bad news for the NRM.
Erias Lukwago noted that working together is a necessary condition for any anti-M7 campaign to succeed. Without POA & Nandala being around him to create confusion and chaos, the likes of Winnie Kiiza, Alice Alaso, Gerald Karuhanga, Counsel Wandera Ogaro and other ANT giants have never had any problem closely working with Dr. Kizza Besigye who they greatly respect having mentored them.
At the Africana event, you had Salaam Musumba, Semujju Nganda, Ingrid Turinawe, MP Moses Kabuusu, Mzee Wyclif Bakandonda and other Katonga diehards flanking Erias Lukwago as he signed MoU documents with the Muntu group.
