It’s increasingly becoming clear that President Museveni needs to show love to Defense Minister Adolf Mwesige by letting him go at the earliest opportunity. This will be good for the broader public interest and more importantly for Mwesige himself. For starters, the otherwise very intelligent and eloquent Minister a few years ago developed a complex medical condition that occasionally impairs his brain function. And this is something the President is very much aware about. It’s the reason he ordered his State House comptroller Lucy Nakyobe to release colossal sums of money for the relatively young Minister’s medical treatment in India where he has undergone several brain surgical procedures. How did Museveni get to know the severity of his minister’s condition? It was during a public rally they both attended in Kabarole district that Museveni realized his man wasn’t fine. As Museveni moved to address the mammoth crowd, Adolf rushed to follow him to the podium. In what put the President’s security on tenterhooks, a stone-faced Adolf curiously stood behind the big man (as if preparing to wrestle him to the ground) and began rubbing his back as if he wanted to whisper to him something. The President spontaneously turned only for his faithful Minister to make uncoordinated utterances. “Eeh as this funeral has been attended by many people,” he reportedly whispered to the President who seemed shocked as to what the Minister was saying. It was immediately after that rally that Museveni, who had previously had rumors of the Bunyangabu County MP’s sickness, ordered Nakyobe to support his treatment in India. That was many months back but even after returning from India, there are indications that Adolf hasn’t fully recovered to his former self.

CHAOS @ HOTEL AFRICANA:
At BMK’s Hotel Africana where Adolf frequently drives for lunch (he resides in Nsamba near the US Embassy & works at Defense headquarters Mbuya), waitresses and other caregivers have lately realized all isn’t well for their high profile customer. “Many of the waitresses, unaware of his medical condition, resent him and whoever is ordered to attend to him refuses. They say that man is very rude. This is so because he had previously reacted very violently whenever they try to assist him say pick a desert or anything. He vigorously pushes away whoever tries coming close to him. Sometimes he is okay but acts weird for most of the times he visits the Hotel’s VIP restaurant,” said a source. “The waitresses became even more frightened and confirmed that he is naturally a rude person recently when some elderly man came to the restaurant and excitedly greeted him in Rutoro. He violently shouted at him and warned him never to bring his familiarity [Knyanyiro] to him. The man looked embarrassed and it were the bodyguards who consoled him trying to explain the Honorable isn’t okay sometimes.” We hope the on & off honorable doesn’t carry any rifle as is expected of a minister in his position. The restaurantsupervisors are now in a big dilemma on how to go about the situation. They want the money and they fear the consequences of declaring such an influential and loaded VIP unwanted. Gratefully the defense Minister always comes with plain-clothed bodyguards who carry his briefcase and always sit within in spitting distance keeping watch over him. Whenever he is seen acting weird inside that restaurant, those assistants close in and rush him to his vehicle to prevent an escalation. For comments, call, text or whatsapp us on 0703164755.
