The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), through its Muslim fraternity, has today, match 12, extended a helping hand to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) under the Agali Awamu organization in Kawempe.
The initiative, led by the Ag. Commissioner for Customs and Head of the URA Muslim Community, Hajj Asadu Kigozi Kisitu, aimed to share the blessings of Ramadan by providing iftar meals to those in need.
The event, part of URA’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, aligns with the Islamic teaching that “The best of people are those who benefit others.” This initiative underscores URA’s commitment to community development and social welfare, reflecting the organization’s mission to serve beyond revenue collection.
Speaking at the event, Hajj Kisitu emphasized the significance of generosity during Ramadan and the role of collective support in fostering a more inclusive society.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection, giving, and unity. As URA, we are dedicated to not only fulfilling our mandate of revenue mobilization but also positively impacting lives. Supporting Persons Living with Disabilities through acts of kindness strengthens our shared humanity and builds a better Uganda,” he stated.
The Agali Awamu organization, which advocates for the welfare and empowerment of PWDs, welcomed the donation with gratitude. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for URA’s gesture, highlighting how such support uplifts marginalized communities during the holy month.
URA continues to uphold its ‘Developing Uganda Together’ mission, ensuring that community engagement remains central to its operations. Through such initiatives, the Authority reaffirms its dedication to inclusivity, social responsibility, and national development.
As Ramadan progresses, URA encourages more partnerships and initiatives that foster compassion, unity, and support for vulnerable communities, reinforcing the spirit of giving that defines this sacred period.
