In a sweeping statement that’s sure to calm nerves across Uganda’s business and taxpayer community, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has emphatically denied recent online reports suggesting chaos in its tax ledger operations.
Through its official “X” page, URA urged the public to disregard the misleading Red Pepper article claiming that its sophisticated ledger reconciliation systems had been “switched off” and replaced by manual processes.
The tax authority confirmed that all ledger processes remain fully automated, stable, and operating at peak efficiency. Far from reverting to manual work, URA has progressively digitized its operations, ensuring faster, more transparent, and error-free tax reconciliation for all Ugandans.
“This is a malicious attempt to spread panic,” URA said in its statement. “Our systems are robust, our processes automated, and our staff continue to serve taxpayers efficiently across the country.”
URA’s digital transformation initiatives, which include advanced ledger and reconciliation systems, have positioned the authority as a leader in modern tax administration in Africa. The automation ensures quicker processing of payments, seamless reconciliation, and enhanced accountability, providing both businesses and citizens with a smooth, reliable experience.
With technology at the forefront of its operations, URA continues to demonstrate that Uganda is embracing innovation in tax administration, making it easier than ever for taxpayers to comply while safeguarding public revenue.
As the authority marches forward, this episode serves as a reminder: modern systems, not rumors, drive Uganda’s tax revolution. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
