Seeking to avoid the noise and hustles back in Kakajjo village, Bweyogerere Division in Kira Municipality, tycoon Hajj Musa Kafeero recently sold part of land holding his residence there and relocated to a more spacious place in Kijabijjo village, Kira Municipality located in the neighborhood of his fellow Spear Motors tycoon, Mzee Gordon Wavamunno’s farm residence.
Sources familiar with these matters have disclosed that the proprietor of Triangle group of hotels, Oweek Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero started initially by moving two to three of his Hakis (wives) to his new place of abode and finally moved the last one after constructing for her a storied and tiled residence there.
Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero’s residence in Kijabijjo lies next to a primary school known as Alinnyikira owned by Godfrey Ssemakula who made a lot of money while working with Uganda Investment Authority and prudently spent the same to buy land in Kijabijjo where he also constructed a beach.
Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero is not a total stranger to Kijabijjo village since he has a very big shopping mall in Gayaza known as Multiple built on land leased to him by the Catholic Church during the reign of the late Archbishop of Kampala, Rt Rev Cyprian Kizito Lwanga and another shopping mall in Kasangati known as Mutaasa City built on land leased from Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and in exchange of which he constructed a building for Kabaka rented by Equity Bank Kasangati branch.
The Kabaka’s land used to hold a football pitch before the same was allocated to Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero and lies adjacent to a building which Kabaka used to rent to government for the purposes of holding a chief magistrates court that has since relocated to Gayaza on the way to Bulamu village still located in Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso district.
The late Archbishop Kizito Lwanga was born in Kyabakadde village in Kyampisi Sub County in Mukono district after Kijabijjo village where he left behind a secondary school called St Cyprian Kyabakadde one of whose former prominent headmasters was Karoli Kiwanuka who was discovered dead in one of the same school’s houses and who had just earlier on started a secondary school known as Queen of Mary based in Kiwologoma in Kira Municipality in Wakiso district.
The late Kiwanuka was one of the strongest and renowned Democratic Party members and leaders in Kira Municipality and unsuccessfully competed for Member of Parliament when it was still called Kyadondo East before the same constituency was split into two to form Kira Municipality whose incumbent MP is Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda.
Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero was one of the first people who purchased land in Kakajjo village when the place was still remote, bushy and when land there was still very cheap. Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero constructed two big residences on the big chunks of land he purchased in Kakajjo village.
Another notable tycoon who purchased land next to Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero is Godfrey Kalule Kirumira who is the chairman of Kwagalana Group an umbrella association of very wealthy men and women who boasts of many businesses and several commercial buildings located in Kampala and its suburbs.
By the time Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero finally took the decision to sell part of his land at Kakajjo, the prices of land had multiplied by several folds from the time he purchased the same and must have really made a lot of millions of money for land he literally purchased for a song.
Some of the reasons that prompted Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero to sell part of his land is that some of his neighbors had sold land to wealthy people who had built coffee processing factories, heavy trucks parking lots and different industries that had made life really unbearable for wealthy people like Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero who spend the whole of the day making, counting and weighing money in kilos on top of supervising several businesses and who therefore require absolutely blissful and quieter nights to enjoy their sleep and plan for the next round of hectic day.
Hajj Mutaasa Kafeero has already endeared himself to the less financially endowed neighbors in Kijabijjo and Nakwero on whom he generously lavishes meat during Idi celebrations obtained from his numerous cattle that he keeps on his farm based at on part of land holding his new residences.
The residents of Kijabijjo village have since welcomed their new high profile neighbor and have wished him a peaceful stay. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
