Renowned socialite Sheila Gashumba has raised serious concerns over the mysterious death of Elishama Ssesaazi, a Senior Three student at Seeta High School.
Taking to her official X page, Gashumba questioned why the Ministry of Education has not taken decisive action, including temporarily closing the school to facilitate a thorough investigation.
“Today it’s someone’s son, tomorrow it could be your child,” she wrote, urging the public to speak up about troubling incidents in schools that often go unnoticed. Her remarks have sparked intense debate, with many calling for greater accountability in ensuring student safety.
Ssesaazi’s passing was initially reported as a case of suicide. However, after persistent demands from his family for clarity on the actual cause of death, the school’s administration later revised its statement.
In a post on their official X page, the school revealed that further investigations had disproved the suicide claim but failed to specify what exactly led to the student’s death. This abrupt change in position has only deepened public suspicion, with calls for an independent inquiry growing louder.
Despite ongoing investigations, progress has been slow, with key witness statements reportedly missing.
Reportedly, authorities have yet to gather testimonies from students, teachers, and school administrators, raising concerns over the handling of the case. Furthermore, questions have been raised regarding the role of the school’s ownership, as the institution is linked to a senior figure in the Ministry of Education.
With public pressure mounting, the demand for transparency and justice in Ssesaazi’s case remains urgent. It is imperative that institutions responsible for children’s education and safety take swift action to prevent future tragedies.
The nation now watches closely, awaiting answers and accountability. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
