The storm brewing in the personal life of Kampala Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Shamim Malende has erupted into a full-blown scandal after her estranged husband, Andrew Ssebunya, fired back with shocking accusations.
Following Malende’s public announcement of their breakup and her claims that Ssebunya had taken over her social media accounts, Ssebunya has vehemently denied the allegations and dropped a bombshell of his own.
In an exclusive statement to local media, he revealed that the real reason behind their split was far more explosive: “I caught Shamim cheating with a well-known Ugandan comedian,” he declared, withholding the name out of respect but leaving no doubt that betrayal shattered their once-solid relationship.
Malende had earlier painted a picture of a relationship gone wrong, warning the public that Ssebunya no longer represents her and appealing for help from tech experts to reclaim her social media platforms.
But Ssebunya is pushing back hard, insisting that he has had no access to her accounts since last year and accusing Malende of launching a “smear campaign” to divert attention from her own guilt.
“I have never interfered with Shamim’s digital life for months,” Ssebunya said. “These accusations are baseless and unfair attempts to damage my reputation.”
Beyond the social media feud, the personal fallout is taking a heavy toll.
Ssebunya lamented how his years of support and sacrifice during their relationship are being erased in the public eye. “I stood by her through thick and thin, both privately and in her political journey,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking to see that loyalty repaid with lies.”
He also addressed rumors suggesting he poses a threat to Malende’s safety, calling them “reckless fear-mongering” and insisting he has never issued threats or acted with malice.
The scandal has captured the attention of Ugandans nationwide, sparking heated conversations about the dangers of mixing romance with politics, especially when digital platforms become battlegrounds.
Many caution that in an age where social media can make or break careers, personal conflicts risk spilling into public crises.
As the drama unfolds, no legal proceedings have been initiated, but insiders hint that the story is far from over.
For now, the nation watches as two high-profile figures navigate a bitter breakup filled with secrets, accusations, and unanswered questions.
