Medard Segona has said that he is much better and more qualified to remain being the Busiro East MP than singer Mathias Walukagga. He adds that he is much better and beats Walukagga on all parameters of goodness and suitability; making it clear that the only thing on which the outgoing Kyengera Mayor beats him at is age.
Segona told radio CBS listeners that, as a well raised Muganda boy, he has a duty to respect Mathias Walukagga because he is his older in age-regardless of differences in academic qualifications and governance experience.
In what shocked even the moderator, Segona said that (contrary to what many think), Mathias Walukagga is an old man way much older in age than him. He recalled that Walukagga was singing with the musicians of the late Kasozi generation when for him was still a small young boy in primary school.
He maintained that, ordinarily, there is no way Walukagga would have had guts and the self-esteem to dare stand against him for the Busiro East MP Seat had it not been for the NUP party President Bobi Wine who he says is the one who instigated him to throw his hat in the ring in order to humiliate him.
Segona says that he did confront Bobi Wine about this but the party principal denied it all but didn’t go far enough to demonstrate it was mere banter by Mathias Walukagga. That Kyagulanyi denied and demanded to know from Segona if he was sure that Walukagga would repeat that infront of him.
“I told him I don’t know [if Walukagga could repeat the same] but for me I’m here to tell you that this is what he has been saying everywhere in the constituency. I expected him [Bobi] to convene a meeting for the three of us to demonstrate this wasn’t true but he didn’t,” said Segona who clearly has been on the media offensive to explain himself regarding what he calls curious circumstances under which NUP disregarded him in favour of Mathias Walukagga.
