Busiro East MP Medard Segona has refused to be apologetic about the great leadership attributes his creator bestowed upon him.
He candidly told journalist Ssendagire during a YouTube interview that he wasn’t prepared to be sorry or admit any guilt about being in position to carry the title Oweekitiibwa (the honorable man) because he is proud of the fact that the same was bestowed upon him by the Kabaka of Buganda, who he loves very much. He said he wouldn’t give in to bullies who envy the fact that its him who the Kabaka chose for such honor, and not them.
“Even when I ceased to be his Minister, someone else was chosen and it was never any of those envious people hurting over such titles. So, there is no way I can be sorry about being Oweekitiibwa because it’s a privilege bestowed upon the lucky few.”
Segona also said he wasn’t prepared to feel sorry or to be required to apologize to anyone for always putting on suits and looking good in them, just like he won’t apologize to anyone for being able to fluently express himself in the English language.
He added that in most cases, those demeaning him and others for speaking fluent English aren’t being genuine because they utter such nonsense simply because they themselves are unable to express themselves in the English language; even in basic terms.
Segona clarified that whereas it is true there are a lot of people who are sensible and full of sense even when they are unable to speak good English, it’s extremely important that those seeking to become MPs are in position to communicate fluently because it’s the only language in which the people’s representatives express themselves once in the August House where he has been member since 2011.
Segona says people should be deployed in positions where they can render effective service and representation of their people’s interests.
In the same interview, Segona refused to condemn or castigate his fellow Oweekitiibwa Mathias Mpuuga for any wrongdoing and instead demanded that the NUP top leadership becomes more deliberate in doing more to secure effective reconciliation with all its adversaries, including Mathias Mpuuga in order to strengthen the broader opposition cause as the country counts down to the forthcoming general elections of 2026.
