This Thursday morning, Salaam Musumba and veteran politician Yusuf Nsibambi faced off over the fate of the new political alliance between Katonga-based PFF and Gen Mugisha Muntu’s ANT party. The same was unveiled on Wednesday during a media event at Kampala’s Hotel Africana. It was made clear that the two political groups will work together to confront the Museveni dictatorship while fronting joint candidates for 2026 general elections.
The CBS news crew this Thursday morning rang Nsibambi for his view and the Mawokota South MP was predictably negative about it. He said it was a waste of time and predicted that Ugandans shouldn’t be excited because nothing much will come out of this alliance. He claimed that Katonga is full of malicious and poisonous politicians who hate Mugisha Muntu with a passion.
He claimed that Katonga members like Semujju Nganda, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and others fear to stand for President and must be trying to set up Gen Muntu to be the one to go for Presidency so that NUP foot soldiers devour him on social media. “They just want to shield their lower level seats as someone else gives them cover by running for President while for them enjoy their comfort zone to keep their current positions,” said Nsibambi whose 2026 Presidential Candidate will be Nandala Mafabi who is his boss and mentor inside FDC.
Nsibambi also claimed that Katonga is full of people who lack ideas and originality which is why they have continued using FDC-like symbols and colors as opposed to coming up with their own. But Salaam Musumba responded by saying that Najjanankumbi is full of fortune-hunters who are now dying of anger to see the group at Katonga moving on and beginning to gather momentum as the country counts down to 2026. She said Nsibambi should concentrate on communicating FDC messages because it’s the party where he has the responsibility being its Deputy President for Buganda.
“For us we moved on long time ago and please inform those people that we wish them well. Let them find something to do because this is a season to be busy. They should get busy doing their own work and let us be because we aren’t bothered about them anymore. They don’t feature anywhere on our list of things to do as PFF,” said Salaam Musumba while sarcastically laughing at Nsibambi.
