In a nearly vulgar video, renowned Ugandan celebrity Bad Black aka Shanitah Namuyimbwa has demanded the immediate release of Bobi Wine and other opposition MPs. In the 6 minutes video, Bad Black says she is tired of dictatorship in Uganda and demands for immediate end to torture and detention of President Museveni’s political opponents. She says she is in Dubai where she lives and works along with many other struggling Ugandans who are equally disgruntled with bad governance back home. She says she is ready to organize the entire Ugandan community to stage massive demonstrations in Dubai should the Kyaddondo East MP and other fellow leaders remain incarcerated. The video, laced with a strongly worded message that is spiced with lots of vulgarities, has since gone viral with many fans showing excitement to finally have heard from their icon Bad Black. She says she has been in kamoli [silently peeping] for a while but she can’t continue her silence when Bobi Wine, who she credits for inspiring many young people, continues to be incarcerated. This is the first time Bad Black, whose ex-boyfriend Meddie Sentongo fanatically supported President Museveni’s 2011 reelection bid, is going bare knuckles against the long-ruling NRM government. She has always been perceived by her fans to be a Museveni diehard and this perhaps explains why her latest controversial video message, wrapped in very insultive vulgar words against Ugandan leaders, has gone viral on the internet. She is just the latest celebrity to bash the Ugandan leadership after the likes of Annet Nandujja, Eddy Kenzo, Pallaso etc used their music to show displeasure at the government of President Museveni. Some of the songs are politically too critical and openly pro-Bobi Wine that radio stations in Kampala can’t have them played without being reprimanded by UCC for becoming partisan. That cautious approach by media houses notwithstanding, the Bobi Wine solidarity lyrics are already getting electronically accessed by millions of Ugandans. Do you think these Ugandan celebrities will sustain the hostile campaign they have launched against our veteran leader YK Museveni and his NRM government? Why are they increasingly turning against Museveni, a leader whose reelection they enthusiastically supported under the auspices of Tubonga Nawe? For comments, call, text or whatsapp us on 0703164755.
