The Office of the President has called on Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to actively promote the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and government.
During a three-day workshop held at Hotel Triangle in Mbarara, which was attended by RDCs, their deputies, and internal security officers, President Museveni’s representative, Kakande, yesterday, emphasized the importance of the RDCs in sharing the NRM’s successes with the people. He encouraged them to focus on promoting economic empowerment and improving sectors like health, education, and agriculture.
Kakande highlighted the success of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the region, noting how it has helped improve the livelihoods of many farmers. He stated, “The goal of the Government is to uplift households from subsistence agriculture to commercial activities.” He also acknowledged the positive impact the PDM has had on local communities, stressing its role in national development.
The workshop was part of the government’s effort to enhance the RDCs’ capacity in promoting government programs and maintaining security in their districts. Kakande urged RDCs to remain committed to their roles, especially as the electoral period approaches.
The workshop also covered topics related to security and the importance of ensuring a stable environment for citizens. RDCs and their teams were reminded to remain vigilant in their duties to combat crime and maintain peace in their communities.
RDCs expressed their appreciation for the support from the Office of the President, with some thanking the government for deploying additional staff to help in the fight against corruption and in improving service delivery.
As the government continues to implement its development strategies, RDCs were reminded of their crucial role in ensuring that these programs succeed and in fostering a better quality of life for citizens.
