Former government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, has offered a sharp critique of the ongoing war in the Middle East, blaming what he described as a dangerous doctrine of white racial supremacy for fuelling the violence between Israel, Iran, and Palestine.
In a detailed opinion piece, the former Media center boss said that the conflict is not just a matter of regional security or nuclear threats, but a well-orchestrated campaign by Western powers, particularly the United States and its European allies, to control the region’s resources and impose regime change through destruction.
He said the latest developments, including reports of U.S airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, are part of a broader plan by the West to dominate and silence nations that resist their control.
According to Opondo, this same model was used in previous interventions in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria, countries that, despite being labelled as threats, were left in chaos after foreign invasions.
Opondo suggested that the involvement of America, especially under Donald Trump, reflects what he termed as a long-standing hypocrisy, adding that Trump’s calls for peace and diplomacy are dishonest, and only serve to divert public attention from his own political failures, both domestic and international.
He pointed out that Trump’s claims of being able to end the Russia-Ukraine war quickly were unrealistic, and that his past foreign policy record (including the controversial U.S withdrawal from Afghanistan) showed a lack of genuine leadership. Opondo also mentioned Trump’’s inability to build a promised wall on the U.S-Mexico border and his public fallout with billionaire Elon Musk as signs of an unstable political figure.
Opondo argued that Israel’s claim of acting in self-defence is weakened by its possession of hundreds of undeclared nuclear weapons, which he said are ignored by international bodies like the IAEA, which he described as having become a tool of U.S interests. He criticised the West for condemning Iran’s alleged nuclear ambitions while turning a blind eye to Israel’s stockpile.
He further claimed that the targeting of Iran and continued bombing of Gaza are driven not by security concerns, but by the West’s interest in controlling oil and natural resources, adding that the Palestinians have become helpless victims, stuck in overcrowded refugee camps and constantly under siege, yet ignored by the same powers who claim to defend human rights.
On the leadership in the U.S and Europe, Opondo described them as out of touch with global realities, incompetent, and unfit to preach democracy or morality to the rest of the world. He said they no longer represent the will of the people, and are unable to build global consensus because their actions are shaped by greed, fear of losing dominance, and outdated ideas of superiority.
He also criticised the UK’s Labour Party leader Keir Starmer for siding with Western military campaigns, saying he risks repeating the mistakes of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who supported the U.S-led invasion of Iraq.
According to Opondo, such alliances have historically ended in humiliation, with the UK eventually retreating and leaving behind failed missions.
Opondo also said that the continued support by America and its allies for Israel’s aggressive stance only worsens instability, blocks any chance for genuine diplomacy, and deepens divisions in the global community, warning that unless the world sees through imperial fantasies, the suffering in the Middle East will only grow.
