Thousands of residents along Entebbe Road have been left in shock after a sudden water blackout hit their areas on Wednesday, 25th February 2026. The disruption was announced by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), which said water supply would be cut off until 6pm.
The interruption was caused by a power outage that crippled water production and disrupted pumping systems along the main power line. Without electricity, water could not be produced or distributed, leaving taps dry across a wide stretch of communities.
The areas affected include Kigungu, Bugonga, Kitooro, Nakiwogo, Banga, Lunyo, Nsamizi, Nakasamba, Manyago, Busambaga, Katabi, Bunono, Kabale, Abaita Ababiri, Kasenyi, Nkulaba, Bubuli, Mpala, Kitala, Garuga Road, Nakawuka Road, Buzzi, Kisubi, Wamala, Zziru, Akright City, Bwerenga, Bugiri, Bwebajja, Bulonde, Bweya, Kitende, Ssekiwunga, Nakigala and nearby areas. Families and businesses in these locations have been forced to look for alternative sources of water as the hours pass.
NWSC is working together with Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to restore electricity and bring water production back to normal as quickly as possible.
At the same time, more residents in Kampala are facing similar trouble. Customers in Kyebando, parts of Bukoto, parts of Kamwokya and Kyamuka are experiencing either no water at all or very low pressure due to an emergency fault near KISU in Bukoto. Engineers are on the ground trying to fix the problem.
For many households, the day has turned into a desperate search for water as they wait for supply to be restored. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
