NUP CARDS: Talk Nicely to These People in Case You Want One
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By Stephen Akabway Jr

Contesting for a National Unity Platform’s card is a tough job. Veteran and rookie candidates are currently racing for a NUP card presumed to be a sure vehicle to victory since the party in 2021 swept constituencies in Buganda and some parts of Busoga.

To this end, we have explored people who NUP candidates should nicely talk to and possibly secure the elusive party card.

BOBI WINE KYAGULANYI SSENTAMU

The musician-cum-politician leads the pack of people who hold the last say on who should and not be extended a NUP card.

Of course it’s easy to fathom why Bobi Wine (BW) holds the last say on who should and shouldn’t secure a NUP card.

First and foremost, BW founded NUP and also heads the same presumably leading opposition party.

He vied for power as a first timer and resoundingly defeated Robert Sitenda Sebalu who was an NRM as well as a  much established candidate  backed by Gen Yoweri Museveni and almost all NRM leaders and more or less the entire government officials, an army of Resident District Commissioners (RDcs) and all security services.

After properly and indisputably flooring Sitenda Sebalu, BW took on his boss, Gen Yoweri Museveni and unprecedentedly defeated him in the whole of Buganda and some parts of Busoga.

BW irrefutably continues to hold sway over NUP and it’s officials on top of enjoying influence and respect both locally and abroad.

Without even further digging deeper into his other strong attributes and advantages, one can easily see how talking nicely to the bad man from Kamwokya can secure him or her a party card and use the same to win elective office, other factors remaining constant.

FIRST LADY BARBIE ITUNGO

Maama Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi (BIK) is the NUP’s defacto number two. BIK and BW have been tight since their high school days.

During their marriage and political times,  tsunamis have hit them and failed to sweep them apart.

Matters of fact, BW and BIK during their high school days played the role of Romeo and Juliet and pledged only death would put them asunder.

They have since through thick and thin tightly held onto that pledge through, reflecting their deep attachment, commitment and devotion to each other.

The two are absolutely replicas of Uncle Robert Mugabe and Grace Mugabe, Gen Museveni and Maama Janat Kataha Museveni and Baraka Obama and Michelle Obama.

BIK has a lot of influence over BW and has greatly transformed his personal life from a reckless ghetto ninja to a respectable statesman and husband.

Me thinks, no one can fail to secure a card if he or she talked politely to Maama BIK, other factors held constant.

FRED NYANZI

BW’s big brother is like a father figure to him. Mzee Ssentamu Senior died and left Fred Nyanzi’s (FN’s)siblings under his tutelage and care.

FN has played his father figure role very well and made sure all his siblings acquired education.

He mentored them to be leaders like him who earned the eternal title of chairman after many years of serving as Kamwokya LC1 chairman.

BW exceedingly respects FN and consults his big brother over many things before taking a final decision.

FN holds NUP’s vital chief mobilizer position and many candidates have been seen in his company, leading the likes of AlHajj Latiff Ssebaggala Ssengendo to allege that BW’s eldest brother has since resorted to the underworld business of selling NUP cards.

So, therefore, it would not be entirely a bad idea for any NUP candidate in need of a card to talk nicely to FN and secure one, still other factors held constant.

FIRST SON KAMPALA KYAGULANYI SSENTAMU

BW’s heir apparent, is a replica of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in as far as BW and Maama BIK are concerned.

Though Kampala operates silently, behind that demeanor lies a smooth operator who enjoys a lot of influence and respect from the NUP’s leaders and party officials.

Being their heir apparent, Kampala has 24/7 BW’s and Maama BIK’s eyes and ears.

I would strongly advise anyone in need of a NUP card to get hold of a phone and call Kampala and passionately and nicely plead for one.

GENERAL SECRETARY DAVIS LEWIS RUBONGOYA

BW’s and Davis Lewis Rubongoya’s (DLR’s) ties transformed from

one of being a student and lecturer to one of a committed, passionate and devoted power strugglers.

After lecturing law to him and interacting directly with him, DLR found BW extremely intelligent and deeply committed to matters of human rights, human freedoms and civil liberties.

Immediately, the duo hit a high code together and fell deeply and madly in love and as they state the rest his history.

RDL’s extreme love for BW would see him taking a very early retirement from the military where he served as a prosecutor in the general court martial, joining his political love, seeking for the umpteenth liberation of their motherland and fellow citizens.

Matters of truth, DLR is the brain, heart and soul as well as engine and gasoline that powers NUP.

His party card in respect to Kampala Central parliamentary seat  is absolutely and irrefutably assured. In fact, he pointed at this seat and his student assured him it was his to lose.

Those vying for a NUP card, must talk to DLR politely and the same will be their’s to lose, other factors remaining constant.

NUBIAN LEE

Not only Nubian Lee( NL) is BW’s long time singing partner, but also his very  trusted confidant.

Their previous imprisonment over bogus criminal charges, have since tightened their companionship so much that many people who desire to see BW have to go through NL to secure an appointment.

As a matter of truth, NL and BW are inseparable to the extent that no any number of false criminal charges and imprisonment can separate them.

So, therefore, any NUP candidate who desires to secure a card, is better advised to speak to NL and secure one, other factors remaining constant.

JOEL BESEKEZI SSENNYONYI: When Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s bestie, homeboy and fired leader of opposition, Mathias Mpuuga landed into problems over the five hundred million shillings service award, Joel Besekezi Ssennyonyi (JBS), immediately became his faiti accompli substitute.

Such is how JBS bewitched BW that the former’s party card in respect to his Nakawa parliamentary seat is absolutely fait accompli. Ssennyonyi has to a big degree  performed well in his role of leader of opposition and in his previous role of chairman of COSASE, earning confidence respect and admiration from BW and NUP.

It needs not application of rocket science to figure out that JBS’s towering influence can aid a candidate to secure a NUP card .

MUWANGA KIVUMBI

MK is the chairman of Buganda’s powerful and influential parliamentary caucus.

MK’s excellent grasp of parliamentary debates across the board makes his next election as Butambaala MP more or less assured, bar rigging.

BW has a soft spot for MK especially since he is a respected muslim and an intellectually gifted great descendant of Kintu Wasajja and his wife, Nattulu Nambi.

With that stated and noted, talking to MK for the purposes of obtaining a NUP card, likely is one sure deal of securing one, other factors remaining constant.

BETTY BAKIREKE NAMBOOZE

BBN enjoys a lot of BW’s confidence, admiration ,influence and respect

Matter of fact, BBN has since absolutely put his weight behind, Ssenyonga Muyanja and the latter can confidently and absolutely expect to beat Rev Peter Bakaluba Mukasa to the NUP card.

BBN has earned respect across the board over her good grasp of parliamentary debates and work, turning herself into the best person for one to lean on in as far as securing a NUP card is concerned.

FRANCIS ZAAKE  BUTEBI (FZB): The son of a financially endowed moneylender, hotelier, businessman and Mityana resident, Butebi  Senior, earned his first  two hundred million shillings without cutting a sweat.

Butebi Senior made it a culture to post a total of two hundred million shillings to the account of any of his child upon joining secondary school.

So, therefore, that’s how his exceedingly lucky child, Hon FBZ ended up by earning two hundred million shillings without cutting any sweat.

Such is how loaded Butebi Senior that whenever Gen Yoweri Museveni’s people have tortured his son,  the moneylender has always quickly purchased an air ticket and met his medical bills as opposed to waiting for a sluggish parliament and an hesitant government to meet those costs.

FBZ has no problem of funding NU and it’s activities so long as BW and other party leaders request him to financially intervene.

Since money moves mountains and valleys, FBZ’s financial money can be exploited by any candidate and he or she secures a NUP card,.other facts held constant.

Ultimately, let NUP see and talk  those above-mentioned people and who knows some of them may end up securing the party’s elusive card. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
