Faridah Nambi, the NRM flag bearer for the upcoming Kawempe North by-election, has urged women and youth to unite behind her candidacy as she seeks to represent the constituency.
Speaking on February 27, after her nomination, Nambi addressed her supporters at the Kawempe Mbogo Muslm Primary School Ground, emphasizing the crucial role women, youth play in shaping the future of the country.
“Women and youth make up the majority in Kawempe North, and they have the power to bring about meaningful change. They can achieve this by voting for a candidate from a party that has proven its ability to deliver peace, stability, and development across Uganda,” Nambi said.
She also called on the over 20,000 NRM members in the constituency to lead the charge in ensuring her victory at the polls on April 13th.
“It is a great advantage to have such a large base of NRM supporters in Kawempe North. If all of them show up to vote, we will secure a strong victory,” she said.
Accompanied by Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, NRM’s Deputy National Treasurer, and Hon. Rosemary Seninde, the Party’s Director for Mobilisation, Nambi urged voters to ignore candidates with selfsh agendas who are only out to cause confusion.
“Do not be swayed by those who are only interested in their own gains. NRM has one candidate, Faridah Nambi,” she reminded the crowd, calling for unity within the party.
Hon. Kyatuhaire reaffirmed that as a party in power, NRM is committed to supporting Nambi in fulfilling her promises to improve the lives of Kawempe’s communities. “NRM stands as one, strong and united. With your support, we will achieve all that we have planned,” she said.
She further encouraged party members to engage in door-to-door campaigns to ensure the NRM message reaches every voter in the constituency.
Hon. Seninde also urged voters to choose Nambi, noting that the NRM is ready to implement its manifesto to improve the social welfare of Kawempe residents. “With Nambi as your MP, everyone will benefit from programs like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga, which aim to reduce poverty in the Kawempe ghettos,” Seninde said.
She promised to mobilize teams to reach out to all voters, including those who may not be aligned with NRM. “We must unite and work together for the benefit and development of our people,” she added.
Seninde expressed confidence in a strong win, saying, “Just like in previous by-elections, we expect a clear victory because Ugandans are no longer easily deceived by the opposition.
