With just days left before the people of Kawempe cast their votes, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has intensified its efforts, rolling out mega rallies in a final push to consolidate support.
Like a farmer watering his crops before harvest, the party is making its last plea to voters, urging them to rally behind its flag bearer, Faridah Nambi, in Thursday’s by-election.
The campaign trail, led by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, made major stops in Mpererwe, Kiganda, and Kawempe Kutaano, where she and other top party officials addressed excited crowds.
They emphasized that electing Nambi would ensure better service delivery and a stronger connection between Kawempe and the government.
The NRM’s high-powered delegation included Central Executive Committee (CEC) members Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi and Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, and the Director for Mobilization, Hon. Rosemary Sseninde. Each took turns rallying the electorate, reminding them of NRM’s track record and the benefits of aligning with the party in Parliament.
With the opposition also tightening its grip, the contest for Kawempe is shaping up to be a fierce battle. But as the sun sets on the campaign period, NRM is leaving nothing to chance, pulling all stops to ensure that when the ballots are counted, Faridah Nambi’s name stands tall.
