Equity Bank has revealed that digital banking will take centre stage at the Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Convention in New Orleans, which begins tomorrow August 29th.
The bank has set up an interactive booth where participants will learn about the latest digital banking tools, mobile platforms and secure cross-border money transfer options.
Winfred Wanjiru, the Head of International Banking, said Equity Bank wants to empower Ugandans living abroad with convenient and affordable ways to support their families and invest back home. She explained that the Bank’s goal is not just to provide banking services, but to make sure Ugandans abroad have reliable access to digital platforms that help them stay financially connected to Uganda.
The booth will also offer guidance on how to use Equity’s online systems for quick money transfers, investment planning and advisory support.
According to bank officials, in today’s fast-moving world, a bird that flies off the earth and lands on an anthill is still on the ground, meaning that technology is the bridge between Uganda and the diaspora. By harnessing digital tools, Ugandans abroad can transact in real time and remain part of the nation’s economic heartbeat.
The bank’s presence at UNAA comes at a time when it is expanding its international footprint, with the Board recently approving a representative office in the UAE in July 2025. This further strengthens its position as a leading bank for Ugandans abroad.
By focusing on technology and convenience, the Bank is ensuring that diaspora communities can manage their finances seamlessly while playing a direct role in Uganda’s development.
