NANTABA REJECTS MIRUNDI’S W/CRAFT, RESORTS TO PRAYERS

Troubled Minister Idah Nantaba has rejected Tamale Mirundi’s advice to contract witchdoctors to help her overcome the current storm she faces regarding the murder of harmless Ronald Sebulime who was shot dead by police men who responded after she reported to Nagalama police saying he wanted to kill her. Nantaba suspected that Sebulime, who was suspiciously riding behind her vehicle, was on a mission to bump her off. The incident has caused her widespread condemnation with some actors demanding that she resigns her ICT ministerial position like was the case with Labor Minister Herbert Kabafunzaki.  Sebulime family lawyer Nkunyingi Muwadda has made things even more complicated for Nantaba by vowing to proceed under private prosecution and have IGP Okoth Ochora criminally prosecuted for failing to arrest or force Nantaba to record a statement. Muwadda insists that whoever participates in events leading to the same transaction prior and after the murder is as culpable. He says Nantaba is as culpable as the police officers whose incarceration the IGP sanctioned awaiting formal charging before court. He says it’s escapist for Ochora to say he is waiting for guidance from Internal Affairs Minister Jeje Odong before apprehending Nantaba because the law clearly empowers him. Muwadda, whose 2nd April letter Police Legal Director Erasmus Twaruhukwa contemptuously responds to in UPF’s own 4th April letter, says the Minister can only guide IGP on policy matters and not operational ones involving a suspect (Nantaba) that even has no legal immunity against criminal prosecution. He relies on the police boss’ inaction to brand Ochora a weakling. Representing the same Sebulime family, Muwadda has also demanded for billions in compensation to atone the loss the family incurred in Sebulime’s passing. MPs too have previously condemned Nantaba to whose defense came Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire. President Museveni’s influential assistant Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso has also castigated Nantaba saying her conduct risks discrediting the entire NRM government.

MIRUNDI WEIGHS IN

Tamale Mirundi, who Nantaba hosted at her Kayunga home on Monday for guidance and advice on the PR front, says Nalweyiso should lie low like an envelope because contrary to her publicly stated views, Police CIID Director Grace Akullo cracked and went for a statement at Nantaba’s Namugongo residence. Mirundi says during the visit, he advised Nantaba to accept being connected to strong witchdoctors and magicians in his village who get Nantaba prevail over her tormentors who he says are led by Nalweyiso and other powerful actors he isn’t comfortable naming. Mirundi says Nantaba, who was flanked by his elderly mum as he visit them, flatly rejected that advice saying witchcraft is abominable being a staunch SDA lady. He says instead she told him she has opted to ferrying strong prayerful pastors who frequently come to her home for prolonged prayer sessions. He says Nantaba is convinced her political tormentors have put money together to use the Sebulime murder to tarnish her name and finish her off politically. Mirundi says a tearful Nantaba told him so many things regarding mafia operations aimed at destroying her and that he has resolved to support her cause by writing a stinging book fully exposing the invisible hand behind her woes. He says Nantaba is being fought because of her strong loyalty to Museveni who the mafia group members want to isolate and eventually oust from the office of the President.
