By Our Reporters

Mukono Municipality Betty Nambooze has resurrected her Good vs. Bad DP politics as part of her efforts to capture the DP Presidency. In a public statement, Nambooze uses a local situation in DP Mukono branch to illustrate she can nationally do to make DP great again. Her views and declaration are contained in the following statement:

VERBATIM
The Nrm secretariat management saga has moved me to bring you in on how we run the DP Mukono secretariat. Drawing from the example that was given to us by our Political Father Ben Kiwanuka who took DP headquarters to his home in Lubaga when things got turf in the 1960s, we agreed with collegues to move Mukono DP Offices to my home and housed it in my garage for a year.

I had a discussion with my husband and together got a portion off our plot and donated it to DP. I made a donation and built a moderate Office for my Party with a waterborne toilet, power , a small Kitchen, store and computers, printer and furniture. We moved and registered it with EC: DP Offices Mukono Branch plot 3 Katimbo Road ,Mukono Municipality.

In 2015 we mobilised 65M, most of which came from my pocket and mobilised members to elect leaders for each of the 602 Villages in the District, all Parishes,Subcounties and Constituencies.

We sat our Chairmen at all levels and requested them to make their homes the DP offices. Giving myself as an example I requested Constituency Chairmen to mobilise to have Offices in the major Towns.

We employed three people for the District Office one a graduate and two Diploma holders, to proffesionally run our branch plus an Office Assistant. These four people are listed in Parliament as my assistants whose salaries are deducted directly from my salary.

Am grateful to the District Party administator Mr.Kaweesa Kaweesa and one volunteer Eng Ssejjemba who have now generated a digital party membership register for the district with full addresses.

We pay our employs promptly and we are our own Landlords. Meanwhile I told collegues that I will not be there for ever to sponsor the branch and we now have a small business opened secretly to generate money for the branch. Membership subcription is easy with a register,we told our people to give their party 1,000/= per month which is 12,000/=annually and this money goes directly in our business. In the end what is sustainable is to mobilise members to fund their Party, have accountable leadership and encourage volunteerism following a clear administrative policy.

This is what I had embarked on for DP Buganda when President Mao panicked and stopped me from organising. He constituted a committee that is said to have used 50million ,I hear to investigate me. Whatever they were investigating, only God knows!

This is what I will do within the first two years of taking DP Presidency if at all members entrusted me with the Party Presidency. I wont draw money from my pocket to run the Party Nationally but I will mobilise membership to fund their party and use each single penny on Party activities.

We cannot run the Party at Press conferences held at the headquarter in a Muzigo without structures or wait to steal from Government when we take power like NRM.
