Mityana Rival Leaders Gang Up on Zzaake-WE’RE TIRED OF YOUR SMELLY MOUTH

By Mulengera Reporters

Led by Mityana South MP Richard Lumu, Mityana elected leaders who subscribe to opposition have declared a political operation to end the Francis Zzaake Butebi family influence in their district.

At a rally in Mityana Municipality, for which Zzaake has been MP for now 10 years, the opposition leaders from the district campaigned for Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa and Patrick Mugisha aka Omunyarwanda wa Kabaka. Bagala is campaigning to keep her Woman MP seat and Mugisha wants to replace Zzaake as Municipality MP. Mugisha is the outgoing Mityana district Chairman.

Lumu, a prominent opposition lawyer, told a cheering crowd that he has a duty to ensure that Zzaake doesn’t return to Parliament because he is incompetent, never talks in Parliament and has personally been going to Mityana South to de-campaign him.

“He says he can’t utter out Joyce Bagala’s name because when he does, he gets bad breath. That’s not true because, as someone who has served with with him at Parliament for now five years, I’m here to tell you that that man [Francis Zzaake] has oral hygiene problems and he has always had a smelly mouth even before uttering Hon Joyce Bagala’s name,” Lumu told the cheering crowd.

“Let’s choose high standards as Mityana voters by re-electing Hon Bagala and not that other person [Proscovia Mukisa Nabossa] because she is eloquent and knows the role of being an MP,” Lumu added. “That other person [Nabossa] is a good actor who you can watch on your TVs late in the evening after watching Hon Bagala articulate your issues on the floor of Parliament. Let’s utilize both of them that way.”

On her part, Bagala said there is a lot she can say to demonize Zzaake but she wouldn’t like to because its unnecessary. She also campaigned for Bobi Wine for President, demanding that they tick for her next on the Woman MP ballot and not Nabossa.

Bagala also had the NUP flag bearer for Mityana LC5 Chairperson seat and introduced her to the crowd. Zzaake wants Kavule to punish all NUP Mityana flag bearers who closely associate with Bagala. He says that’s betrayal.

“We are all for change regardless of  the party platforms on which we are. I’m for change and my symbol is the ball,” Bagala said adding that it would be deceptive for anyone to deceive voters by claiming that only those with the umbrella symbol are for change.

Patrick Mugisha revealed that the desire to exorcist and end the negative influence of the Zzaake Butebi family in the politics of Mityana prompted him to abandon the LC5 Seat and come for Francis Zzaake.

He explained that his breaking point and red line approached three years ago when Zzaake’s dad deployed money to vote in a certain way regarding the location where the Kabaka-donated hospital project had to be situated in Ssingo County.

“We had to choose between Busimbi in the Municipality here and Kyankwanzi. He deployed money to influence Councillors not to favour Busimbi because he was using that land for his recreation facilities for the nkudi dance. I felt this was too much and I declared war on his son.”

Mugisha bragged that he had created plenty of headache for tycoon Butebi to the extent that so far three of his commercial buildings have had to be sold in order to enable the tycoon fund his son Francis Zzaake’s re-election. “Even if I end up not winning, I’m proud I have caused them serious havoc. But make sure that I win because if I don’t, they are going to use their son’s 3rd term to get back all the money they have invested.”

He appreciated Zzaake’s activism against the Museveni regime in Kampapa but added: “That alone can’t be enough anymore. That’s why I’m coming to build on that activism and also lobby and bring tangible things for Mityana.”

He faulted Zzaake for refusing to follow up on the ambulance the government had given from Kampala because he wanted to prove he has nothing to do with the Junta. “Our ambulance as Municipality ended up taken by Nsegumire of Mityana North because our MP simply said I hate those Museveni people and can’t take their ambulance.”

Mugisha also spoke about the free maize seedlings (several tonnes) for Mityna Municipality which ended up in someone’s private shop at Container Village in Kampala because of Zzaake’s indolence. “He is a selfish man. Why do you say you don’t want things from Museveni’s government yet you never refuse to take the salary?”

Mugisha also promised to use the money MPs are given to buy cars to instead invest in nursery beds to ensure that coffee seedlings are donated to households in the Municipality as a way of boosting household incomes.
