By Simon Turibamwe

Controversial media consultant Tamale Mirundi, has predicted that Norbert Mao will have a bad end at the helm of democratic party. Mirundi revealed that Mao whose group has abandoned DP to support People Power’s Bobi Wine, has lost focus on the future of DP and resorted to name callings and insulting his fellows. Mirundi who said that the emerging of Bobi Wine will leave Mao stranded at DP, said that its high time for him to re-think about own future other than presidential candidature because he is overwhelmed. He added that the coming of Bobi Wine at a time of DP reunion means a lot for DP factions because they will not rally behind Mao but Bobi Wine.

DP President Norbert Mao

“Those people had reasons for quitting DP to start own parties and even when they have come for a reunion, they are chanting People Power not DP oyee and Mao can’t see he is being left alone in DP, the only way is to think about his personal future and forget about elections where he can’t score even 2000 votes,” said Mirundi. Mirundi who recently said that he can’t fight or support Bobi Wine’s candidature, further said that he (Bobi) is an advantage to many people especially the disgruntled who can’t find hope in either NRM or Besigye’s camp because they now look at him like a new beautiful bar maid in a village bar. Mirundi’s comments add on the list of Mao’s critics including Butambala DP Chairperson MP Muwanga Kivumbi, Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago among others who have been saying that his candidature for presidency is not honestly planned but schemed with unclear intentions. First was Kivumbi to publicly say that Mao who has been weakened is planning to contest for presidency in an election he will not win only to disorganize Bobi Wine.  When these words reached Mao, he spitted fire back telling Kivumbi to take away his Butambala village reasoning. Mao has also been on spot for his utterances that: “The people of Acholi have been used enough to vote for others as if they are voting machines whereas not.” This statement has been perceived as promoting sectarianism and that he expects to be the only candidate who will be voted in Acholi. Mao however insists that the coming of Bobi Wine has no bad effect on the DP because Bobi is DP’s child and that DP and People Power are the same. “People who have gotten bad intentions are the ones trying to build bridges between DP and People Power but we are the same. It’s DP that natured Kyagulanyi and when you come to create confusion amongst us then you are wrong. No one will manage to separate us,” Mao recently told a press conference at city house. Mao further says that it’s still early to criticize any one intending to contest for presidency because negotiating rooms are still open for all the contenders to discuss the transition and Presidential candidature.
