Just as an old saying goes, [A tree with deep roots stands firm in the storm]. Ms. Jane Barekye, the State House Comptroller, has continued to build strong relationships with key cultural institutions, and her deepening ties with the Buganda Kingdom are a testament to this.
In recognition of her growing engagement with the kingdom, Ms. Barekye has been formally invited to the 12th edition of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run, scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Lubiri, Mengo.
This annual event, which precedes the birthday celebrations of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, is one of the most significant gatherings in the kingdom, bringing together thousands of people to promote health awareness and unity.
This invitation comes just months after Ms. Barekye was also honored as the chief guest at the Nabagereka’s Obuntubulamu launch, an initiative that promotes values of respect, responsibility, and community well-being. Her presence at such high-profile cultural events reflects the mutual respect between her office and the Buganda Kingdom.
As the wise say, [A strong bond is built not by words but by actions]. Through her continued engagement with Buganda’s leadership and cultural activities, Ms. Barekye is reinforcing the bridge between the State House and the kingdom, ensuring that governance and cultural heritage remain closely linked for the benefit of the people.
