MABIKE REVEALS WHY DP BLOC HATES BESIGYE

By Simon Turibamwe

The Social Development Party (SDP) President Michael Mabike who is also one of the DP Bloc Principals, has revealed the secrets that the only reason to why Principals and members of the DP Bloc hate Dr. Besigye is nothing other than excluding them from his People’s Government cabinet. Featuring on the NBS’ famous Morning Breeze program today (Monday) morning, Mabike said that Besigye’s cabinet without Norbert Mao, Mugisha Muntu, Mabike, Bobi Wine, Abed Bwanika and Jimmy Akena exposed that he is not interested in working with them and that even if he is elected the President, he will be discriminative like his former boss President Museveni. Mabike said that much as the leaders in the DP Bloc recognizes the contributions by Dr. Besigye, their exclusion from the people’s cabinet indicated that he has not recognized their contribution in an effort to fight for regime change and therefore wanted to stay isolated. However, Mabike was not able to explain whether apart from himself, the rest had interest to assume positions in the People’s Government cabinet. He added that Besigye exhibited his discriminative character by appointing only Betty Namboze and Elias Lukwago who are considered deserters by DP party and excluded people like Norbert Mao and Mugisha Muntu who has always supported him in all the struggles. “Betty Namboze and Lukwago who are the members of the People’s cabinet are not only traitors to DP but also leaders who abandoned the DP party to serve the interest of FDC and Besigye,” said Mabike. Mabike further revealed that the DP Bloc whose main target is individual personalities is still more interested in Dr. Besigye and FDC as a party joining the coalition if they can join to support but not to lead. He emphasized that: “Besigye and group are important in DP Bloc as long as they come to support not to lead because we have the new kid on the ground who is likely to cause the tsunami that Besigye has been telling Ugandans.”  On Thursday, while signing the DP Bloc MoU at Hotel African Kampala, led by Bwanika who earned a new title of a fire brand launched what they termed as an electrified attack on Kizza Besigye saying that by all means he must be fought until he bows down to the pressure. Bwanika specifically said that: “As long as I’m still standing, whether I remain alone or supported I will fight to make sure that Besigye is not given breathing space in the political field again because we have known he is not one of us or one of those who wants to come to us.”

Michael Mabike and Abed Bwanika

Dr. Daniel Ruhweza a prominent city Lawyer and analyst who also appeared on the NBS’ program urged the DP Bloc to present an alternative to Ugandans instead of attacking Besigye and other individual personalities because Ugandans are not interested their attacks. “Attacking Besigye and other individual personalities is not what Ugandans expect from you, so go on ground and present the alternative that you would provide in case Museveni is dislodged,” said Dr. Ruhweza. Ruhweza added that what the Bwanika and group exhibited at hotel African was characterized by insults and did not represent unity as claimed by it’s Principals.  Ruhweza also advised SDP’s Mabike and PDP’s abed Bwanika to disband the political parties they formed after a bitter dispute with the mother DP party if they have truly come back to the DP mainstream. “There is no way you convince people that you are back to the mother party when you are still holding the key of the office of the President of another party. This is not a re-union but may be coalition,” said Dr. Ruhweza. Mabike’s revelations come hardly four days after DP’s party vice President Betty Namboze advised the group not to trade in counter accusations but aim at fighting the regime.  This not the first time for Mabike to re-unite with the Mao’s-led DP which he left in a bitter split to register his own SDP according to the information available. This being the 4th time for him to come back in active DP ranks has left majority political actors in doubt some saying that he might be on another mission likely to be fat position but not honest since he has done it before. Meantime, FDC supporters have been responding to Bwanika’s utterances to fight Besigye saying that it is what he is supposed to do because he has not just started to do it after joining the DP Bloc but even before when he sworn an affidavit to testify in an election petition against Dr. Besigye to favor candidate Museveni and Kigundu-led Electoral commission. They also say that Bwanika is not relevant on the political scene in Uganda because he has been contesting for Presidency and has never scored a quarter of what Besigye whom he demonizes score. “Bwanika is not only Demonizing Dr. Besigye but his main mission is to use DP and destroy everything the opposition is building on. After destroying everything in the name of DP Bloc its Mao who will be left alone to carry the blame of not sensing the danger paused by Bwanika and others who have become irrelevant in politics,” Ronald Bwambale an FDC fanatic.
